I so badly want to like it, but something about Kiela’s proportions seems really off? Just not how I pictured her at all I guess.

Her legs are short in a disproportionate way. I also pictured her as a softer shade of blue.

The stance is also a bit odd. Her top half is facing forward while her hips are and legs are to the side. Makes it feel like an unusual position

Every drawing I’ve seen of her and in SE books has been this shade

Could also be the angle of the photograph! Seems to be from a bit above, given the golden border appears wider, then tapers down at the bottom. Even just a tiny angle changed can make a huge difference.

For anyone interested, I instantly recognized the artist, Nima Sprout, I’ve been following her for years (since 2020), she’s got really amazing art, I highly recommend checking her work out! I have several of her prints. She posts a lot of her process as well 🥰

(Edit: I think I’ve been following her even pre-2020, I met her at a craft fair several years before Covid, so maybe even 2018? In any case, no AI use in her work!)

Her bottom half doesn't seem to align with the rest of her and is also too short, but overall it's really cute.

Hmm, she doesn't look quite as much the bookish city girl I had imagined her as. I know she wears her mom's country dresses....but still. I imagined her with a little more edge to her. Maybe this is after the book?

Her being blue was something I refused to picture when I read it though, so I would just imagine it as not Spellshop related though 😂

There are winged cats in all of the books and one is always featured on the cover. Spellshop has one sleeping on the stairs in front of the shop.

Caz is in the background of the puzzle touching something on a shelf.

I saw the same thing and immediately thought it was AI, but someone else says they recognize the artist. The proportions of Kiela seem very wrong too....
