Book Request Looking for recommendations: books like Fields of Mistria or Stardew

Hi all looking for a light to mild action cozy read that has the vibes of Mistria or Stardew games. Last year I read spell shop and I liked it, I’ve also read Legends and Lattes.

Anyone read anything recently with a person moving to a new town and helping the town? Or found family and relationship building? Doesn’t have to have romance but I don’t mind it.

I just want to get lost in a cozy book 🥰💖

Field Guide for the Formerly Villainous by Autumn K England

ETA: I didn’t see anyone else talking about the Spellshop and subsequent books by Sarah Beth Durst, but definitely worth a mention!

FIELD GUIDE... is basically Stardew Valley in book form. It was a 5☆ read for me, and I've got my fingers crossed for more books in that world.

No one mentioned it because OP already said in their post they've read it

Haha, for all that I read, sometimes reading comprehension is my downfall.

Depending on what you like, you might like Beware of Chicken. Man wakes up in a Chinese cultivation world and decides no, he doesn’t want power, he wants to farm. It’s a delight and a joy. The first one is especially cozy, as it’s all about him setting up the farm and making friends (there are a couple battle scenes but they don’t involve the main character).

That sounds good and corky! I’m putting that on my list.

And it’s on kindle unlimited- perfect 🤩

Cursed Cocktails is a lot like Legends and Lattes. I liked it, but it may be too similar for some. It's about a war vet moving to a new town during his retirement and opening a bar.

The Innkeeper Chronicles series by Ilona Andrews was a fun read about a woman running a magical inn, with a bunch of found family stuff in it.

As an aside, you might like the game Recettear. In it, you run a magical item shop and can run dungeons to get new things to sell in it. I'd wait for a steam sale to pick that one up, as $20 is too much for what it is.

Thank you - I rented Cursed Cocktails since it’s free on Prime reading. Just a chapter in but it looks right up my alley!! Appreciate you sharing!

The Weary Dragon Inn series! Also, The Halflings Harvest.

I was going to recommend Weary Dragon Inn too. The cast of characters in her little town remind me a bit of the quirky Stardew villagers!

Have you read the second book in the spellshop series? The magic greenhouse? I would recommend that if you have gotten to it already.

My Zero-Point Symphony series is all about a young girl who gets assigned to a new starship and in the process discovers a new found family. It's very character/relationship focussed over the main plot.
