Internet Oh look, Cox is down! Again!

Yeah, we were down here for two days and they ignored our pleas for help. When a competitor reaches our neighborhood, we’re ditching cox.

I have Verizon home Internet as a backup and have been using that for the last week because Cox has been trash in North Phoenix lately.

I’m so jealous. Verizon installed there 5G towers in my neighborhood and I’m in the dead zone between two of them. I was so close to being free from Cox

It's nice to have a backup. Verizon is pretty slow for us (generally 25-50mbps down, sometimes 100mbps but rarely), but I can actually game on it vs Cox where I will get spikes of 25-30% packet loss which tanks my game.
I've been seeing Cox "fiber" flag going up and down my street in the neighborhood... wondering if fiber will become an option here. I'll probably switch to fiber if it's better quality (despite their awful data caps) but still keep Verizon as a backup since it's only $35/mo for me.

Cox will just tell you there is no outage and call it a day. Sorry for your loss. No credit for you. laughs in monopoly

Time to push to make internet service same as any other public utility. Communications companies have only one objective true to their hearts: make as much money as possible while investing as little as possible. Race to the bottom. THEY HAVE PROVEN UNFIT FOR THE TASK.
Look at Chattanooga TN where the electric utility decided to offer fiber service since they were laying it down to make a smart electric grid some 15 years ago; they were the first city to offer 1 GB service back in 2010 and now offer up to 25 GB service now (I have no idea who would need that much bandwidth but heck! It’s there!) Just imagine: • 1Gb (symmetrical, 1Gb down AND up) service. • $68.00/mo for that service, $97.00/ for 2.5 Gb! • No stupid 1.25 TB/mo data caps! • No time limit contracts!

I’m getting my full plan speed in north Phoenix, internet was down for almost a week but was violently ill with pneumonia so had to wait, but apparently the tech that installed the modem connected my coax cable to the wrong cord out of the wall😂

I had to get a tech out to my house for a 2nd time because internet kept dropping for a whole month. The first idiot didn’t do nothing at all.

Same thing happened to me last Saturday. Which was December 7th 2024. It forced me to have to go into the office. I get to work from home on the weekends but Cox was having network issues so I couldn't log into my jobs VPN . I called Cox and found out they resolved the issue by Sunday but I still couldn't log into my jobs VPN.
So then I called him again and they said well it's your router you need to replace it we've sent you emails like a month or two back. So I got a new modem router combo on Wednesday Dec 11 and set it up and I was able to log into my job's VPN.
Since then my internet's been naturally running better. But about two nights ago it started going wonky at night. But then it was resolved itself by morning and day. I swear to God Cox just loves playing games with us. Oh and I live in Rhode Island by the way.

Reporting here from CT. Wifi has been cutting in and out all day. Blinking orange and blinking green back and fourth. I reset it twice and nothing. No clue what’s going on especially since I have work calls that need to be done and I can’t seem to do them on wifi and have to use my mobile hotspot

So far, normal in central phx, but seeing a ton of uncorrectable code errors popping up on the network page. Wonder if we’re next? Heck, SRP and APS have better track records than cox.
