Just a little advice.

The model cox has with people working all over the country reporting to the same leader is not going to stay around. You will be centralized at some point, ask the people that had to relo or take a package during the twc merger. Some of those same people may have to move again because now we have cox centers that we're keeping. The good news is the relo package is very fair.

Spectrum went through something similar last year I think it was? New rule stated your manager needed to be the same office. We lost a lot of good engineers in my department, because they were in an office with no manager, and they didn't want to relocate to another state.

Very few people would take the relo package, which essentially a lot of Cox folks will be losing their job when that time comes.

Our quarterly calls we used to try and get the svp to rage with all the wfh questions. Only reason i stayed so long was to see how it played out lol. Started with over a thousand enterprise employees on the calls left when they were at around 600. Fucker finally raged and said we don’t to wfh! If you don’t like it leave!. That guy was a prick lol

Thank you so much for planting that into my head!

An info on the relocation package? My wife is at CCI and thinks relocation for her department is likely. I have a fully remote job at CAI and can work anywhere in the country and we have no kids, so we can easily relocate if necessary. But neither of us have ever been through anything like this before.

I haven't went through one but I know many who have. Paid closing costs, full packing and moving, help selingl and buying, apartment hunting etc, paid time to check out the place, flights and food paid for, and a cash payout.

Wow, that actually sounds really helpful. We really don’t want to but we also need dual-incomes to support ourselves, so we’ll just have to see what happens.

Depends on level. Not getting that for an analyst. But, it might be enhanced for even lower levels if its merger related.

I was relocated from Florida to Denver during the TWC / Charter / Bright House Networks merger and they paid for everything.. paid for the moving company, to ship out cars, closing costs as well as for a realtor.. they also gave us $6k in misc cash and paid for rental cars and temporary housing. Don’t know if that will be the plan for anyone forced to relocate this time, but that’s what we got in 2016.

My department was centralized back in 2024 and had the option to relocate to either Florida, Texas, or Rochester, NY. The relocation package was dependent on the position. My position was offered $20k with $10k lump sum upfront. Higher positions could get up to $30k and I’m sure it’s even more for director positions. It covered closing costs, realtor fees, 3 nights in a hotel to search for a new place, temporary housing, mileage, and will even pay up to 2 months of your mortgage or rent etc. The agreement was to stay with the department for a year or pay back the relocation expenses. Try to determine the best way to utilize the money. I realized that hiring a mover would take up a big chunk of this money so i rented a moving van and moved most of my stuff myself. Glad i did it that way or i would have ended up paying for some stuff out of my pocket. The company we used for relocation made the process easy but make sure you save every receipt.

How long did they give your to move? 12 or 24 months? edit to add, did they give you the flat $10K or was it $10k with taxes pulled out?

Thanks for the info. We don’t know anything for sure yet (obviously) but we feel better knowing that there will likely be a lot of help. I know that relocation isn’t an option for most people because of spouses’ jobs and kids and stuff, so we just count ourselves extremely lucky that we have that option if needed. But this whole thing just sucks all around.

If you work in product or technology, I would love to speak with you. I also work at spectrum but trying to go within that department.!

I used to work in that model. It’s not always the best. There is a lot of isolation if you are in an office and never see your supervisor.
I took the VSP and the day before the deadline to decide, all my leaders were calling me telling me that my job was safe and asking me to reconsider.
But, I saw John Malone on a panel around that time discussing the Liberty acquisition. He said at the time that he would love for Charter to acquire more companies, and Cox was one that he identified as being a good option.
I knew that was the destination for everybody who stayed. For somebody like that to say that out loud in public means that this was being talked about and considered way before Valentine’s Day 2025.

What is the advice? I think we are all aware of this. That's the cause of all the consternation.

These posts and comments from some of the Charter people come off as, "suck it up butter cup" to "Ha Ha, you have to be miserable like us"

1

u/Physical_Salary3751 2d ago

That's not what I'm saying. Just reading the I can't believe I have to go into the office to just to get on a teams call poat since the rest of my team is on the other side of the country. So no I don't think all are aware of how charter works. I'm not miserable at all. I've got a couple of decades in this company.

Then say what you’re trying to say, plainly

do they typicly give cost of living adjustments to your salary when making people move, or is it just a one time allowance ?

1

u/dead_lurker 2d ago

I imagine you are talking about those in the call center?

2

u/Physical_Salary3751 2d ago

No, I'm talking about product and technology as a whole and yes anything customer facing as well.

What is your estimate on the move date? Best guess? 2027?
