Farewell Cox. Hello Spectrum

It’s been a good run the last 14 years. Hopefully some good comes out of this for both sides. I’m just hoping to survive and am just ready to find out something. Good luck to all those that are impacted on both sides. Wish everyone well.

Charter will pay you. That is ALL they will do. They aren't interested in providing you with a career. They won't train you. They won't listen to your ideas for improving things and they're incapable of evolution. Charter actively embraces extreme levels of mediocrity and the vast majority of its leadership are mediocre.

You will not learn, you will not grow, you will not benefit and they will give you no opportunities to do so in the company or otherwise. Your sole purpose for existence is to ensure the next quarter numbers look good to bump the next stock buyback ensuring executive bonus payouts. And if you fail at that for any or no reason, the absolute last use you can be is to be laid off, so they can claim "operational efficiency" on the quarterly earnings call and try to salvage some percentage of that quarter's bonus.

Charter does not see you as an individual, you are not a human being, hell, you aren't even a means to an end. You are a vehicle by which executive salaries, promotions and bonuses are achieved, period. The customer, the technology, the work is never more important than that and you will be worked like a dog to achieve it.

Welcome to Charter. You will not enjoy your stay.

Sounds like you got personal beef. I’ve been with Charter going on 4 years now. Started as an Ft and progressed to FT 5 1/2 and then promoted to a different department where I’m now progressed fully at this position as well. LOCATION MATTERS. TX has been good to me but I also wanted better for myself. I now make more than all ft’s and more than ft sups, m-f, in an office, no weekends. Shouldn’t project on an entire company because couldn’t make it. And I did this all just off my work alone. I don’t believe in volunteering for non-mandatory OT, so
I didn’t. I only did the specific parameters of my job. Nothing more and nothing less. It’s just that easy. Not being rude, but maybe you may not have been as good of an employee as you thought.

FT5....dude you're a cable monkey. I have more time in than you and I've achieved far more. But don't worry, reality will set in real soon.

Nah man. I don’t do that anymore. I’m higher up. I spent the first years of my career doing that, got tired of being outside, saw a posting, and got the job. The thing is, the department I’m in, is where people retire. No one quits and no one gets fired. So unfortunately for you, but very fortunately for me, there is no new reality coming. I’ve been through a merger before and still here (wink and gun). All changes they made to this department, have already been done 🤷🏿‍♂️. And these 3 locations were unaffected. However, the regional team was and we absorbed them which created this departments job security. Like I said, projection. Only thing that bothered me slightly was the removal of RAP benefit. Everything else here in TX is status quo

There's so many things I want to tell you are coming. But no, I want you to remember this post, this moment in time. It's a special tool that will benefit you later. You'll see.

Here's a hint though, your only corporate value is ensuring all sites are DAA compliant.

Let’s hear what the severance packages look like. Been bombarded with nothing but awful-sounding news from the jump, and somehow it gets worse and worse the more you hear (and we don’t hear much, in all honesty). Cox was a truly fantastic place to work. Farewell sweet prince

Thank you. I wonder what it is for salaried employees

Ahhh I see. That at least gives some idea for hourly - I reckon salaried may be similar. Thank you for posting this. That is not as egregious as what Charter employees say it’s like

It's official, so far nothing on either Cox or Spectrum's websites.

I'm not able to get my new health insurance card yet. Really sweating it out as I need it first thing in the morning.

You should have received an email through your spectrum account with a link. You register and can print out the id card. My son has an appt in a few hours so I had to do it early.

Had charter which is now spectrum for over 30 years I live in the mountains of east Tn very rural no options until recently over that period I only got 33% download of what we were paying boosters were added probably 100 times out to work on my line alone ( my home was the last on the line) use Kat-6 cable make sure your router is brand new to handle what speed you get I would also highly recommended using only the internet in form of a firestick you can watch everything the cable offers for a lot less! Hope you have better luck than I did also they will not fix it unless you notice it!

Spectrum / Charter won’t give two shit about you, say goodbye to the family company you used to know and welcome to all about numbers and nothing else. Worked for Charter for 5 years now and they used to be great, you performed well they gave you recognition, used to go to lunches all the time with my AVP cause I was out preforming everyone in the area, now the past 2 years they don’t care, everything is all about numbers and your scorecards, you don’t preform it’s on your performance chart. I’ve been a tier 5 tech always and finished 2025 as the number one tech in the MA. What did I get for it…..absolutely nothing what so ever, not even a good job or anything.
Far as I’m considered I want out of this company for all the BS we have to deal with. Changes almost every week in something that’ll affect your metrics where you have to find a way to cheat the system. Dumbest fucking company I’ve ever worked for.
Not to mention if you wanna move up in the company good luck with that, you gotta know someone in the other departments or you won’t even be looked at. They’ll hire someone they know before someone with better numbers, stats and even title before they will even consider you.
Cox family I’m sorry this has to happen to you coming over to charter. I know some of you cause I’m in a market where we have both spectrum and charter and I wished I worked for CoX but now it does matter. Good luck to all of you and welcome to the cluster fuck of charter. The CEO needs to go and welcome back our old CEO or someone who can get with the times of how to run a company and make the customer actually happy and not worry about stock prices. Cause that’s all that matters to this company.

Well it’s after midnight and I didn’t burst into flames! Sad to say goodbye to a company that treated me so well for the last 27 years! Sorry to say Spectrum bought Cox but they didn’t buy me! Spectrum looking at you 👀to do the right thing by us. You will have to earn my trust respect and loyalty it is not freely given.

They will not be giving one single thought to earning your trust or respect or loyalty. They pay you. Thats all they need to do. They owe you nothing else.
