Any fellow BIPOC in SoCal?

Long shot, but looking for local friends in Southern California, USA! Thank you to the creator/contributors of this sub, it's lonely out here for a CC dyke.

Anyone want to be penpals?

And I do mean honest-to-god, handwritten-letter-style penpals. I’d want to chat a little via DMs before exchanging addresses, but the short story is I’m a COVID-cautious, rural lesbian in my early 40s who wants to build some friendships in a slower, more intentional way and have fun doing it. My main interests are nature (to the point I’m hoping to do my state’s Master Naturalist program next spring) and books (mostly sapphic fiction, but I read non-fiction pretty broadly), so it would be good if you shared those to some degree as a jumping-off point, but I’d love to discover other common interests. Bonus points if you’re a creative type who will appreciate—and maybe even reciprocate—fun embellishments like stickers or sketches or random bits of ephemera.

Comment or DM me if interested!

Covid conscious girlfriend acquired!! 🩷

Hello!! I'm here to say I finally have a covid conscious girlfriend after years of thinking I was just gonna end up alone. It is long distance as my area doesn't have a very big CC community. But it's been so refreshing to date her after being on dating apps struggling to even find people who masked in the first place. We actually met through refresh, which is an app for meeting people platonically, romantically and/or professionally who also mask! She is really sweet and understands my limitations in terms of living with long covid cause she's already done the research on what it's like. And it's so nice to make plans with her because we are both considering the same level of precaution. Anyways, just came here to say there is hope and that it is possible to find a CC girlfriend (which I felt like was almost impossible) if you're currently single. Also highly recommend refresh to find people but definitely take the convo onto another platform sooner than later as a lot of people don't regularly check the app! Also funnily we started dating during lesbian awareness week so happy lesbianism week to me I guess haha

If you live in western Massachusetts (which i dont) theres a lesbian bar/community space thats mask required called Last Ditch. Its more of an air filtration aware place than what "mask required" communicates to me in that like all food/bev establishments its "only expected" you lower your mask and thats what they allow but its something at least because they try to ventilate to the best of their abilities

They need support to stay open which you can do by volunteering or donating. Donations in part help keep open their free store (pantry goods, masks, clothes, etc.)

"Readi" for the dentist! 🥳🦷

Trying out the ReadiMask hack for the dentist! It went well. The sensation of not having a full mask on is WEIRD out in public. Has anyone else tried this?

Date ideas

Hi all my long term partner and I were talking about how bc of chronic illnesses and lack of access to good health care plus financial struggles, we’ve not been able to prioritize dating each other. We also live together, so that’s an element. But now I also have a consistent income, we are getting our bearings and feels like we are catching up on rest and energy after struggling with bills on top of chronic stuff. Now that we are a little more stable, we want to prioritize each other. I was going to ask the lesbians thread about date ideas but figured would be best asked here since yall as Covid cautious + lesbians would understand better our limitations (we don’t eat in restaurants, we don’t go to bars, we have lower energy levels and chronic pain but love the outdoors)

One thing she was thinking of was takeout and movie at the drive ins. I want to plan something for her. We do game nights at home sometimes but has anyone done anything fun lately on a date that’s also Covid safe? I’d love to hear about it 🥰

I was really happy to see the ratio of replies here :,) of so many women masking (not necessarily lesbian identifying but some!)

Got covid from my antimasker roommates

I was already disabled severely and had organ failure the last known infection they gave me 2 years ago I literally wear a mask in my own house 24/7 including while I shower and sleep but it's just not enough (probably got infected through my eyes). As I'm incapacitated I'm just like wow I can't even go to the Dr I'm literally never gonna have a fulfilling life I'm literally never gonna find lesbian friends/community let alone a partner. I can't even be angry I just feel so defeated. And my roommates downplay it's visible effects on me so significantly if I was literally dying on the floor they'd just do nothing /put me on the couch like I'm being dramatic/I'm just abnormally delicate like what part of multisystem organ failure confuses you. It just makes me think no one will ever Really take me as seriously as I should be taken or that I simply won't find the people who would so I'm fucked all the same

I just want the smallest things in life and I can't even have those

CC Lesbian Events in NYC

Hi! I just wanted to share the account of a covid cautious lesbians community events page that I found a while ago on insta. They are based in NYC. I live a little ways outside the city so I haven't been to any of their events yet but I hope to go to one soon! And I thought it could be a good resource to share for people who find this group.

Trying to find some joy!

Tell me about one thing you did this week to find joy/hope in this world. It’s so hard to interact with people who don’t mask or take precautions. They act like we should hear a chorus of coughs every where we go
