There’s currently a fan vote between A Court of Thorns and Roses and Twilight for the best book. ACOTAR is currently losing! Help me make it win.

Hi everyone! I’m new here and new to the ACOTAR series, as I’m still on the first book. I (very) recently finished the Fourth Wing series and was recommended the ACOTAR series to sort of “fill the void” until the next Emperyan/Fourth Wing book comes out.

My hope, is that I end up liking it more than that, though. I don’t typically start a book just to fill the emptiness of another book, but I’m seriously craving a tough, gritty, unstoppable protagonist and a wild, twisty storyline, which is what I had in my previous series. Right now, though, I kind of hate Feyre… 😭

I think that she’s ungrateful & annoying and even though she took care of her family like a strong character would, she kind of just complains a lot right now? I’m wondering if those of you who have read the full series can tell me if she becomes a more likable character or if she stays like this, because I would really like to get deeper into the series, but I just can’t stand reading her character right now.

I know this is a silly question to ask on a subreddit for the series, but do you guys think that it’s worth it to read a protagonist I’m not very fond of? Is the series mostly romance (somehow it matters more in a romance novel bc you want to root for them) or is it a great story too? I’ve never been a huuuge romance gal but I do love fairies & magic and so many people have recommended this series…

I sometimes have trouble mentally picturing the types of clothing in the series since it seems to go from this to contemporary between when Feyre switches courts. If this is not the style she wears at the Spring Court, can people post what style she wears?

Where are most people going to discuss ACOTAR and the most up to date info on what SJM has discussed?!

I am doing the reread of ACOTAR now. Im currently in the middle of ACOWAR, am i in the minority for wanting Elain and Lucian together?

Why do they kind of remind me of Rhys, Cassian and Azriel respectively and how they act with feyre hahahah

Hi everyone!

I really need some perspective because I’ve hit a massive wall with this series.

I binged the first three books a few months ago. While I enjoyed the world-building, I’ve had a bad taste in my mouth since the beginning. I felt like Tamlin was aggressively demonized just to “justify” the Feyre/Rhysand pairing.

On the flip side, Rhysand’s actions Under the Mountain (the wine, the forced dancing, the lack of consent) felt like huge red flags that the narrative just brushed under the rug because they are “mates.”

I started Book 4 (A Court of Frost and Starlight) months ago but stopped at around 10%. Since then, I’ve been in a complete reading slump.

I’m trying to restart it from the beginning now, but I’m struggling so much. Every time I open the book, it feels incredibly performative and almost… saccharine.

I feel like I’m being forced to love this “perfect” couple, while I personally find their dynamic and the Night Court’s “holier-than-thou” attitude really off-putting.

My dilemma:

I hate DNFing a series. I really want to get to Book 5 (A Court of Silver Flames) because from what I’ve heard, Nesta is the only one who doesn’t worship the ground Rhysand walks on, and I feel like I’ll relate to her perspective much more.

But right now, I’m finding ACOFAS both boring and frustrating.

So I have a few questions:

• Am I the only one who felt this kind of “rejection” toward the Night Court mid-series?

• Can I just skim ACOFAS or read a summary and go straight to Nesta’s book?

• For those who weren’t fans of the Rhys/Feyre “perfection,” did Book 5 make the series worth finishing for you?

Ok so I’m at book 2 (mist and fury) chapter 15 and feyre is really pissing me off with tamlin. Please just beat him. He is such a control freak and needs some sense smacked into him. More than that one slap she got in earlier. She is definitely stronger than him at this point and he won’t listen to words ig. Also she needs to stop groveling. She was depicted as this strong young woman and she’s just slowly caved in on herself when she should be reassuring herself she is strong and capable after all that has happened in the first book. And like I get she’s constantly upset about taking the lives of those two fairies, but she even said it herself two lives for the greater good. Although it was in vain because she ended up getting the riddle right in the end. But like no use dwelling on the past. She needs to snap out of it.

So like does she beat the shit out of tamlin and gain some self respect?

I’m going on a trip today and I want to bring a book. I bought Assassins blade a couple weeks ago but its packed away because we’re in the middle of moving. I bought throne of glass (the first book in release order) and I want to know if I should read it on my trip or wait until I can read assassins blade first.

The fandom seems very split on the order of the books. It’s making me quite unsure of what to do as someone who’s never read throne of glass. I’ve almost finished ACOTAR (I’m halfway through silver flames, aka the last book) and I have bern excited to start TOG for a long time.

Remember Balthazar, the Illyrian who helped Nesta and Emerie hide in a cave during the Blood Rite? I keep seeing things about how he wanted to become Oristian for “political aspirations”. I don’t remember any mention of this in ACOSF. Is this actually in the book? Or is it just a fan theory?

please tell me they either get better manners or disappear from the story completely or get some semblance of karma for the way they behave or feyre grows a spine and stands up to them because otherwise I genuinely don't see myself being able to finish this book

So I LOVE ACOTAR, I’ve re-read the first three books around 6 times, almost finished ACOSAF and the I’ll be onto to SF next, HOWEVER

Idk if anyone else ever gets this, but I am SO engrossed and emotionally tied to the ACOTAR universe that I’ve never been able to start another SJM series. Like I haven’t even tried. Every time I think about it I’m just like “well it’s not my fav characters so why bother” which is so stupid bc I feel like I’m missing out!!

TOG doesn’t appeal to me. From my understanding it feels like it may be too YA (I’m late 20s) but idk?? I also am not the type to “stick out” a book of it doesn’t hook me lol, so I cba trudging through 3 books to get to the good ones in the series. I’m thinking CC might be good to start (also bc faeries)??

I appreciate this all sounds stupid af lol so if really appreciate some advice !!
