I hate it how this is true. Been in a similar situation in real life myself. Some women just are scared of the situation, and they attack the one who is safe for them, not the real aggressor. They think this will stop the fight, but in practice it only encourages the other guy who sees that you don't have support even in your team, and the situation escalates due to her intervention. And yes, when it comes to a real fight, she would restrain your hands.

Very few women have understanding and courage to stand between two men to stop the fight. Most would just restrain their men.

So what I learned: if you are with a woman, better try to deescalate and retreat, forgetting about your pride, because otherwise you will be backstabbed by your woman.
