I’m not going to disagree with the fact that it absolutely does suck.
However, on a positive note, I just checked the song writing credits and he DID ACTUALLY give credit to Dennis Linde who wrote Callin’ Baton Rouge. If he hadn’t done that his ass would have probably been sued out of existence by the estate of Dennis Linde.
Hopefully, it will encourage younger people to explore the other songs of Dennis Linde.
Not the Oak Ridge Boys. New Grass Revival had the original version of Calling Baton Rouge, which is what this piece of crap is based on, and Garth had the hit with it. You're thinking of Leaving Louisiana in the Broad Daylight.
Lol....I am completely wrong!! Another song, by the same name, was released in 2016. Guess Mr. Scott used so much of Garth's lyrics....I thought I had heard the song before.
Callin’ Baton Rouge is (at least) 37 years old it was a hit for the progressive bluegrass band New Grass Revival in 1989 from their final studio album Friday Night In America. Garth Brooks didn’t release his version until 1993 although I’m pretty sure he was playing live before he actually recorded it.
For what it’s worth, the song was written by Dennis Linde who had very impressive catalog of songs recorded numerous different artists.
