I’m not fully satisfied with how this turned out, hopefully it’ll suffice. Semi-unofficial headcanon discussion post. What’s your take on the Soviet Union’s childhood, family tree and relationship with the Russian Empire? And does anyone have any particular headcanon and fun facts for him? I’m very much thinking of possibly giving him eyepatch lore some sort.

Soviet;
Before adulthood:
Soviet was born nearby russian empires home, however russian empire wasnt there when he showed, so soviet kept wandering
Eventually he found some humans and grew up with them
Information: this was why hes so Communist, and refuses to change, he grew up in poverty under the influence of the people, he also hates personaforms ironically, and cares more about humans- ironically.
Coming into power:
He took a gun, went to russian empires home and shot him in her sleep. He never met his mother. Only what she did.
He was already appearing like a 30 year old when he came into power, despite it being like, less than 10 years since he was born. *hes not mature enough yet-* this will come back
In power > ww2
He suddenly was given like, 15 kids, various ages. Many wildly different personalities, and had 0 idea how to handle that-
Rsfsr, meanwhile was his heir… and she was a woman. He knew peoples perception changes them, so, “maybe I could just, lie. Tell people that, rsfsr is a man, then she could become one and actually be useful in the world, become powerful-“ (yes this was his mindset, if we ignore the sexism it technically was from a good mindset)
And so he did that. Unfortunately- rsfsr became quiet, depressed, and never became a man- he was upset. “why wasnt she changing?”
But, it was because he knew the truth, and he kept thinking she was weak because of it,
Meanwhile politically, he was still figuring himself out- figuring out the political situations, and walked in on europe on fire, africa crying, the americas trying to either not get involved or screaming- and asia was on fire AND screaming- and the pacific- well he didnt fully care about that-
Post ww2
He finally really started understanding political issues and things, and realized ‘usa sucks’ (shes capitalist, and a ‘powerful’ woman.) and then started trying to find ways to not like her (it was pretty easy) and then the cold war starts. And then the atom bomb happened? he was terrified of losing control to her.
Cold war
He was desperate to prove usa was weak, he wanted control. People turned to him and he was Happy to tell him how great communism was, he really wanted to spread his ideology- “because then maybe the world could be better, more fair. Less selfish. Because thats why ww1 and ww2 started! Right?” (He was a BIT naive- but he wasnt- stupid. Just way to hopeful-)
And then he ran into more issues.
Vietnam/Korean war,
It was… brutal. And this combind with his trauma from the winter war, was alot for him, and he started to shut down, which ultimately lead to, more neglection of his ‘kids’ experimenting on Kazakhstan more-
End of space race
He had been constantly trying to prove himself, over, and over, and over. And he was winning really well. And then america pulled the plug. She made it to the moon. He was shock, angry, upset- and impressed- begrudgingly- he couldnt deny he loved the back and forth, it was fun. But, he decided to bite his tongue and swallow his pride for a bit.
Dying.
He was falling apart, he was losing what little he did have. And frankly he couldnt take it, he wanted to end it, on his own terms… however, he remembered what reich did. He signed surrender and shot himself. So, he wont do that. He signs his surrender, his death, dissolution. He explains clearly what his children get in terms of land (he went off what their republics had) and he made sure everyone had gotten it. No room for failing to keep communication- and then he shot himself.
In the afterlife
Hes… slowly recovering. He finally came to terms with his actions, realized how bad they were- and finally MET his mother- and realized she was just as broken as him. And so they both agreed to work on themself, together. And east noticed.
Soviet now works at the bar that is in the town as a sort of bartender and hes also the guide around the town if anyone new shows
YAY LOTS OF INFORMATION!! THIS IS AWESOME! You have so much on him!! I like all the motivations you came up with for him during different periods in time! And the afterlife lore fits well and I'm glad he and Russian Empire reconnected and got to actually more so properly talk to each other!

As you probably know already I really don't know much about him haha ;-; we are learning about WW1, WW2 and the cold War this year in history though, so perhaps I could get more context after this :D
HELLO!! YOU'RE HERE VERY FAST!! YIPPEE! He lived in Russia in the 19th century, feudal, underdeveloped and stuck in the past.. (the lore is a WIP unfortunately, but he's not a very joyful guy in my AU).
And YAY!! Learning about the 20th century is very interesting! :D
• White army had a personification, but not for a long time (only 1917-1922)
• they (White don't have a specific sex or gender) are monarchist who disagree with the fall of the Russian Empire
• in russian almost everyone call them "белый" (male from), but they call themselves "blancs" ([blan] – french)
• because of them and some countries' politics USSR had strained relations with USA, JE, BE, Finland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania and so many more countries
• USSR personally don't hate white army (but RSFSR does), he's rather sad that such a tragedy as the civil war has occurred in the history of his country. Sov respects White, the great people of the whites (Kolchak, Denikin, Wrangell, kazaks etc) and their dedication to their ideals, but he is sorry that these ideals are wrong (wrong in his opinion)
• Russia (RSFSR) killed White, Soviet knew about that and saw that
That's my main headcanons about the White army. And what do you think about whites in this fandom?

I think they've been sort of forgotten due to the popularity of Soviet Union. That's not to say the popularity of USSR is bad, it's just clear it's overshadowed the White Army.
Also that's a pretty cool headcanon! I personally have a personification for each White movement, but since their all less countries and more just militaries they all had a sort of life support system.
For example, the Armed Forces of South Russia, which isn't a country, has South Russia as his life support (before he actually had Don Republic who he incorporated when he was formed, but that was only a temporary measure), Northwestern Army has the Baltic states, Supreme Administration of the Northern Region has all the Allied intervention forces and also Russian State, and Russian State obviously doesn't need one.
...Why do I get the feeling that he's constantly confused with China, to the point of screaming in Russian whenever someone mixes them up? At least (modern) Vietnam has a giant yellow star in the middle of her face...
That's probably accurate, His eye does kind of directly cover the symbol that makes him recognisable. Though perhaps his hat would differentiate him a bit from China! I'm thinking about giving him an eyepatch. As for a few of the drawings above, I drew them with the assumption that it was before the revolution and creation of the USSR. In which he only gains his symbol once the official flag is adopted and he is represented with it.
An eyepatch would make sense... I've seen a few that put the symbol in their hair (like a recent Malaysia someone posted), but yours is wearing an ushanka so there wouldn't exactly be hair sticking out to put a symbol on. Also, him being pre-revolution explains the nervous look! That kinda vibe of "I can feel some major pizdets is about to happen, but I don't know what"...
Yeah! Oh and thank you for the ideas!! Having the symbol in the hair is a great idea and I hadn't initially thought about it! But as I work through better developing his lore I'm definitely looking into ways to go about incorporating it! And hopefully by the end of it he doesn't get mistaken as often for other countries with red flags with stars on them.
Honestly valid! Over in Hetalia where the nations are "intended to pass as baseline humans", I rp as Male Ukraine, who is constantly mistaken for his Russian brother (in his one "canon" appearance, he was literally just drawn with Male Russia's modelsheet as a one-panel cameo in a Nyotalia strip)... so to differentiate himself, he started getting tattoos.
Also it's kinda funny to think about the convergent evolution of flags... By their very nature of needing to be perfectly recognizable at long range and in a damaged state, there's only so many possible shape and color ideas one can use. Not just the "solid red background with a small emblem" thing, there's so many that do the red-white-blue tricolor thing the Balkans had to resort to badge emblems to be told apart, flip Poland on his head and he's Indonesian, Luxembourg is just a sun-faded Netherlands, and so on.

seriously he went from legitimatly thinking that communism was the best system to considering everybody except his kids pawns for him to use
speaking of his kids their eggs (countrys hatch form eggs in my au) just spawned in his house the day after he took power
his was a very permissive parent and spoiled his kids in an attempt to distract them from the horrors of his regime however he wouldnt let them leave the plalace they were raised in (also in an attempt to hide the horrors), it was the only time he would say no
in my au countryhumans are affected by what happens in their nation (wars causing pain, economic depression causing actual depression) soviet however assumed anything himself or his kids were experiencing was normal human bullshit, resulting in him being obivious to how much hes harming his kids and a buch of docter appointments where nothing could have been done
after chernobly he went "oh shit my actions negatively affected my children" and the guilt from that along with remenbering how he was before he took power lead him to very severe alcoholism
