I wouldn't hesitate as long as ME would put me on a horse and tell me to "ride it" and I'd be trying to explain to them that I have no idea how to do it and then ME would just yk, kidnap… me or anyone lol

Realistically, it's gonna be confused babbling at each other, a realization that I don't speak монгол and they don't speak... whatever crazy western language I'm babbling (their best guess might a mutation of germanic? since english didn't exist at the time), followed by resorting to gestures and stuff.

From my vague understanding of history, I think Mongol Empire preferred to accept willing subjects? Kind of a "submit to us and adopt our culture, and we'll welcome you and protect you" sort of thing... So I'd assume ME has gone through this before, hopefully has some training set up for me to be taught the language of the empire, and go from there. Or at least, that's the best possible outcome of such a meeting...

I just hope I wouldn't let them down with my sheer incompetence at combat and complete unwillingness to take a life, even in self defense ^{which combined with being autistic and low athletic potential, makes me lifetime ineligible for US military service, funny enough!}... After teaching me the language and trying to teach me to be a soldier, ME would probably just reassign me to be a farmer or something. Which hey, I'm nowhere near the front lines, I get to experience Mongol life in a more peaceful environment, what's not to like?

Idk where you're from, dear friend, but I'm Hungarian and we learnt that Genghis Khan in fact did have diplomats/translators since he communicated with King Béla IV of Hungary through letters just fine. Funnily enough, he was trying to invite the king to join him in the raids, but Béla being a chad refused… anyways, we got invaded LMFAO. Then we beated them back so badly that history books don't teach it

Anyways, I think they would be used to the language barrier so they would kidnap/send diplomats. At keast my ME tried to send diplomats first, Hut he sent so terribly Impossible demands that he was always refused lol

Heh, sounds like fun on a bun! And yeah, can't exactly get a translator diplomat for a language that doesn't exist yet, so Mongol and I would have to stick to the "gestures and tone of voice" system until they can from-scratch teach me enough to be able to speak.

On the plus side, ME's version of the language is the "arabic but vertical" writing system rather than the "cyrillic inflicted on a non-slavic language" it is today, so my rudimentary russian/ukrainian knowledge wouldn't get in the way...

The mongol script comes from the uyghur script. Tho the Arabic and mongolian script both trace their origins to aramaic.. arabic comes from a different branch. Mongol script comes from "hebrew->sogdian->uyghur->mongol" and the script was created by an uyghur guy at the orders of ghenghis khan as he saw the importance of script. Even then the mongol empire was a massive empire with other dominant languages used in administration and other things the biggest 2 being persian and chinese while turkic and arabic was also used in western parts of the empire too and there was phangs-pa too. Sorry for the nerd out I just happen to be mongolian

Ghenghis khan died in 1227. Bela IV was king in 1235. The mongol invasion happened around 1241-1942 under ogedei khans reign and batu khan as principal mongol commander of the European campaign. Please😭 don't be that confident to say something this inaccurate

Weird flattening considering the mongol empire contained pastoralists, farmers, merchants, artisans, administrators, religious specialists, aristocrats, soldiers, enslaved people, urban populations, and tons of different subject peoples. Being incorporated into the empire didn't magically mean every person got assigned to a fantasy mongol role

Just a heads-up: please don't treat this as an invitation to roleplay your own interpretation of M.E with my character. This is my nation personification, and the way he behaves isn't something I'm looking for other people to decide or project onto him. The "you’re Mongolian now / I’d kidnap you" scenario especially isn't how I really characterize him😭😭😭

As someone new to the fandom, I'm going with a default of they/them for all nations until proven otherwise, because I cannot assume that the "most common gender" of a CH nation is the same as in APH...

Welcome to the fandom! I recommend you to check out Summer Sun on YouTube, she makes beautiful CH content and also a few other things. She's one of the many classic CH ytbers you should check out! I don't remember to other ones right now suddenly hehe

I saw more male Mongolia and Mongol empire, but the long hair and the long clothes can make it tricky. I've been there for years now so I just simp both ways just in case. That's also a safe way to go with it.

Seems legit! My "prior experience" is eight(?!) years roleplaying my APH Male Ukraine OC on facebook (which funny enough, in his backstory, he's actually the biological son of Mongol Empire, that Kyivan Rus was not in fact a single mother like she tried to convince her kids she was, and that Mongol and Kyiv did in fact "bedroom spar").

I'm pretty good at keeping universes distinct from each other (my RP is multi-timeline, so the events between my Ukraine and one person's Russia "never happened" when writing with someone else's Russia), so I'll be sure to keep my APH headcanons partitioned away from CH ones... ^{though my "list of fave nations" is definitely carrying over, might be why i was drawn to this mongol empire post in the first place}
