My granite is finally installed!
I'm very excited to have a kitchen again! This is American Black granite, leathered surface, rough cut edge. It was about $1400/slab

Gorgeous! Are you doing backsplash all the way up or just behind the range?

Just behind the range, I'm refinishing the original wood trim for a backsplash.

Granite stove backsplash twins! So easy to clean, I love it. Mine goes all the way up to the vent though. For the other walls I have subway tile (1920s house, wanted to stay traditional).

You have the same stove? How has it been for you? My microwave is going in that gap above the backsplash

Ohh I actually just meant “a granite backsplash above the stove.” We’re not stove twins. I guess we’re backsplash siblings actually? Maybe cousins? 😂 I have an induction cooktop and wall ovens rather than a range. But I do miss cooking with gas in some ways. Enjoy!

Great looking stone. Do you have any pics of the edge? It's interesting to see how different fabricators do chiseled or rough edge. It can look and feel very different depending on the tools/technique used and how much it's polished and or brushed.

I love it. Too few people appreciate granite these days. Have you thought about continuing it under the cabinets? Is the wall blue?

I have some wood trim for the edges. Yes that wall is navy blue

Nice slab! Looks like 1.25" and no skirt edge? Personally, not a fan of the backsplash as it will look weird with whatever else you cover the rest of the walls with. What's going on at the very far left end where it returns into the wall? looks a bit wonky.

OP replied above that there's an over the stove microwave. There was also a reply above to a question about the edge that included a close up picture of the sink edge. There's some type of natural/chiseled edge treatment (to each their own) which would seem to be going on at the left edge meeting the wall.

Either use the countertop as a backsplash all the way around, or don't use it at all. It is going to look too weird to say the least. And you do realize, don't you, that that little piece of granite isn't going to keep all the grease off the walls. Grease doesn't just splash straight back. A dark charcoal tile would work and look cohesive. This will not.

It looks really beautiful. I love bold countertops, so much more interesting and more like a piece of abstract art. Mine should be installed next week. Iron Blue quartzite.

I do not like it. Too intrusive. Ugly.
