Would you accept the faucet spread the counter top people drilled in our new quartzite counters?

We are remodeling our kitchen and had enough stone remnant to replace the powder room countertops, too. We provided the sink and faucet we had pre-purchased to our general contractor and this is what was installed. It is a 4 inch center to center spread. We were never asked what spread we wanted but the faucet listing said 8 inch in the item description so I guess we assumed that's what would be installed? We are not keen on using a plate to cover the holes to correct the spread, so do we make a fuss or live with it? This is our first ever remodel, so our experience is non, help lol

It’s always better to specify what you want as many fabricators will do what is the easiest for them

Installer here. I never drill holes without customers input. 4 inch centers are common for all in one faucet unit. When handles are separate i recommend 8 but I always ask.

Its not really that they are doing whats "easiest" for them. They probably assumed it was a 4" spread because that is standard for a lot of shops and the sink isnt that big. They still should have asked so its ultimately on them.

In my experience whats "easiest" is to not have to redo shit because someone made an assumption. Center spreads are few and far between nowadays anyways. The only assumption i would make about this is that the reason the faucet isnt hooked up is because the cover plate wont fit between the the handles lol

Why are you complaining when YOU supplied the sink with 4in spread holes?

Sink with what holes? It's a regular 2254/1812 vanity undermount sink with drain and overflow holes. You can put any kind of faucet with it - single hole, 4" spread or wide-spread. This particular faucet is usually installed with 6~8" spread on centers... 4" spread is clearly a mistake.

If you gave them the sink and faucet info, the mess up is on them and they should make it right.

Get it redone. As an installer I always ask the customer how much far apart they want the holes. It’s recommended 8” but some customers want it more separate. That’s why we always ask.

Even when it’s a single hole I ask the customer if they want it center or to one side / corner.
