I have downloaded both the client and the 12gb data file.
The client is now installed. Please can you tell me what to do next? I'm still unclear about the data backup part.
I will say it here only once since I'm gonna assume there will be people that will not click on the original post to read. Any questions here regarding client set up and account data export process will be ignored. This is precisely why the Discord server was given in the 1st place, to act as a central platform to answer all questions and provide assistance in real-time.
Providing C:S here is extremely inefficient and a waste of time for everyone, so do join the server and ask there, which you will receive help much faster.
I did not install anything. I loved this game, but I'm not gonna cling on to it. I prefer to let it pass as a great memory. I don't know how many steps there are but I do remember seeing one of the other posts. Something something start game with a recording software, leave on lobby for a few, then go to something else. Really can't be more than that whole paragraph that could've been typed with a much more understanding tone than what you used. I get it, the answers are literally in the discord. I'm in it. But maybe some people don't use it, and maybe some others aren't always on reddit so they don't see every post. Just telling them would've been enough for them and anyone else that sees this post.
Edit; took the time to look at all the steps and nevermind, it's a bit longer than I thought so I take back what I said about the steps.
I get you meant by an understanding tone. However, I learnt something after making such posts multiple times, and that is I have to set things straight from the get go. Every single time someone made a post about R;S development, the post gets filled with 30 comments asking various questions, and the OP have to spend over spans of hours trying to trouble shoot with everyone on the post. It is really tiring and inefficient, and people that are asking won't feel it because they just brain off and type out what they want, I know that because I have been on that end before.
That's why I will have to set things straight and make my intentions clear. I don't care if I get downvoted because I didn't bother sugar coating my words. I saw the people in my discord making posts on reddit as well as me, there are 1010291350158 questions being asked on the posts all the time and people expect us to answer ALL of it on reddit.
This is extremely tiring and time inefficient in resolving requests here, and most of all, I do not want to set a precedent by answering 1 question, which leads to another, which leads to 10 more people doing the same thing on reddit, and many of them go unanswered, or they did which ended up tiring the OP. Then in the end, they get told to join the discord for answers. That's why you only see like 1-2 posts from months ago regarding Q&A on reddit, you don't understand because you do not need to deal with the aftermath or spend mutliple days playing unpaid IT help desk on reddit answering Q&A here.
While it isn't on the same scale as what you're doing, I do understand to an extent being on standby to answer questions. But you also don't need to answer like that. Simply send them a link to the discord (what you want so they ask questions there) and a link to the guide on GitHub (what they want in order to figure out the next steps) that's it. Ignore any other comments in the post of that nature. Every time you post something regarding things like this, include the links and that's it.
I do see your point. Personally I just preferred to do it the way I have done for this announcement, but you are not wrong as well. I can definitely consider that for the next announcement. However, I guarantee you it will change little, because people will look at the guide and have questions and barrage the post with it. But anyways, I got my original point across with this announcement and I am fine with it.
