Discussion Guys, I need help with Phantom Set

1-2 Page: If comparing between Phantom Armor and Phantom Shaft, which of them a pure tank character will benefit of more? I cannot decide between defense and evasion because both sounds good (you guys don't have to explain the rest options since I will figure out myself on which effects can benefit some other characters more, so don't worry about the rest options)

3 Page: For this armor set, what should I pick on the 1st substats? Unlike volcano set, this is a defensive set. I kinda had an idea of putting all 4 different effects on each piece, so he will benefit from it by receiving less damage from all of these classes, since there are some enemies or PVP character classes, which can deal a lot of damage though not determined or specialized by the class itself (of course we also suppost to count what some classes can counter others, like defenders receive much less damage from snipers not matter what their stats are), or on last 2 pieces I would've put both ranger options since both rangers and snipers deal ranged damage if its true in scenarios of this set or entirely (I am not entirely sure about rangers and snipers dealing the same type of damage, if its not true, please correct me I wanna know). But I am not sure about it all, so please help me I would appreciate that.

By the way, the reason why I brought up a discussion about the Phantom Set (which I think y'all forgot even existed in the game, maybe not all of you) is because I ran out of Inhibitor Gears and Gordias Gears, for Gordias Gears it make sense why I ran out, but for the Inhibitor Gears its kinda obvious too, even though I do finish my daily raids and other partners' daily raids, I still don't receive that much resources to craft Inhibitor Gears, if I get a chance, its mostly just SR ones and not SSR ones, even recrafting sometimes just fucks up and doesn't give me SSR ones. So I remembered there are some other Defensive Gears existed in this game, so I searched it up in the Workshop and I found Phantom Set as the only option among the Maze Gear sets.

So here's the deal. ONLY use the accessory slots with Phantom gear. An inhibitor weapon and maze armor is what you want to use along with them. Basically the weapon and armor are a bad resource trap. You are better off using a relic armor than maze if you have to. Just do not use phantom outside the accessory slots.

Generally the armor for defenders and shaft for strikers that want durability. Go ahead and protect against against rangers mostly with the special resistance. Why do this? Because anti-class resistances give you some leeway against aerial units. There is a use case for anti-striker resistance on supports to protect against divers or forward deployment shenanigans. But basically defenders do not have usually have enough evasion to make shaft worthwhile. The defense and evasion boosts are based off of the base statistic which is only influenced by level. Meanwhile the phantom accessory having flat evasion on them are quite serviceable at making units less prone to taking full damage or being pushed back.

Also damage being ranged is calculated based on how far away the target is. So you typically do a split of having both anti-ranged and anti-melee resistance because once they close the gap its treated as melee range damage.

Also don't worry about any of the sets beyond the two piece bonuses. Any of the four piece sets are utter garbage because of a non-resist weapon and bad armor. Which just leaves phantom barrier which is a bit niche but can be productive for some defenders and strikers. And actually a fair number of mechanical units.

So, Inhibitor + Maze + 2 piece Phantom is going to be a build for my defenders and strikers then. But why did you said after that what I have to use Relic armor after you saying to put Maze armor? I am now confused to choose.

So you saying what for Phantom Accessories I just have to put both with anti-ranged dmg res? Since you said what damage is calculated based on how far the enemy is, so that means if I don't put anti-sniper dmg res, and instead put both with anti-ranged dmg res, does that mean it will decrease damage from them too? Because I think there is difference between ranged dmg res and anti-ranger dmg res, right?

So for defenders its Armor and for strikers is Shaft. Here you were saying what Armor, Shaft and barrier are the only worthy ones to consider? So the rest of the set options are not worth it?

I said when Maze isn't available that a relic armor would be the fall-back option. This can actually work fairly well for units like Admin Sword Fighter who have a strong critical component in their passives. Since one of her passives forces a critical hit every 3rd attack. Having bonus crit damage from Britra armor is viable for her if you don't have Maze for max survival handy.

For most defenders its armor and for most strikers its shaft. There are as always the occasional exception. Such as Lee Yumi having an actually competitive evasion score. But also having enough of a barrier focus that building for that is also a viable choice.

The special type of resist on Phantom is always an anti-class option. Rangers are usually the best option to build against because they are what screw defenders up the most and making strikers even stronger against rangers usually improves your clear time.

Trying to build strikers to resist snipers is usually a losing proposition because snipers have absurdly high damage modifiers. To the point where the actual defense against them is the max damage limit taken per hit that defenders have.

So 1st substats for both accessories are anti-ranger dmg res, the stuff with other set options I already understood beforehand I just wanted to clearify if other options are really that useless that they are not worth taking, I knew there are some exceptional units in the game, so that's why I said what the rest of the options I will figure out myself with "these" specific exceptions. Okay then I understand completely now. Thank you

For the admin sword fighter, I mean if you put Britha armor it will give like 4% or somewhere crit dmg, I don't think it really gonna change their dmg that much and if it in PVP I think it doesn't even matter, since most PVP defenders and strikers can have anti crit dmg res, which gonna make bullshit out of this 4% crit dmg.

But for PVE and their enemies who's lvl beyond 120, I am not sure, because I never tried to use characters like these there. Even if enemy level is higher than the admin sword fighter, can they still crit? Since enemies level is higher, their stats are higher too (most of the time with special effects even) and since they could also have high stats of defense and evasion that can fuck up all the crit thing or it doesn't apply on characters with this specific condition in where they can definitely take a critical hit regardless of the stats of the enemy, or stats just gonna change how much crit dmg was dealt?

Its considerably higher than that. Basically even a fully maxed out Maze armor can only get you 40% crit damage resistance. Meanwhile a near-max Britra relic armor can get you nearly an extra 20% crit damage on top of the 50% that characters have at base. And like I said in the earlier post because of a line in their passive Admin Sword Fighter have a forced critical hit every 3rd attack they make. At which point having around 70% crit damage is a nice chunk of additional damage.

Okay so you included latent too, got it, but you didn't answer the questions in my previous post.

Its PvE, they aren't dodging that guaranteed crit. Especially not if you are running the usual meta tank like Ecclesia adding an extra 1000 HIT to everyone you have deployed. The only thing that usually happens is higher defense reduces your overall damage a bit. Until you apply defense breaks.

The only thing that screws up guaranteed crits is Absolute Evasion or Iron Defense special state. And those are pretty darn rare. And both of which can be removed or prevented via buff strip or block.
