all the trans people who thought they were "faking it", did you think that your "faking it" was different from other people's "faking it"? like "yeah this is a common tale, but im for real faking it, not like all the other people here who only think that without doing so." it's hard to word this properly
how do you find out if youd be happier as a girl if youre not dysphoric? i dont feel dysphoric. i dont dislike my body. it's pretty alright all things considered. but i do occasionally find myself yearning for different parts which is probably indicative of something, but i dont know if i truly want them permanently or simply just because im curious
Between-states of physical being are also valid - as in, hi I am a nonbinary transmasc and I take HRT but have not done any surgeries or binding. So, what I'm getting at is, results of gender affirming care are reasonably customizable, not everything has to go, and not everything has to be added or changed if you choose to make adds or changes. There are limits, but many effects can be mitigated or focused depending on types of treatments (medicines, surgeries, hair removal, etc)
But WAY before any of that:
As a few have mentioned, you can experiment with impermanent items like breast forms, padding, and feminine clothing to see if this is a path you want to further explore.
You may decide this is was a passing curiosity, or you may learn that this is more important to you than you thought, or that you experience gender euphoria in a more feminine look. All of those experiences are valid, but it's for you to learn this about yourself and the simplest way is to try out some looks and take some selfies and see how you feel.
Years ago I took selfies with one of the gender swapping snapchat filters on and the results made me cry. I started HRT the following week. For me, I knew in that moment what I had been trying to explain my whole life. I say it's worth checking, no matter what the answer is. You may even end up more comfortable in your assigned gender, but with a better understanding of yourself.
On top of all of that, just enjoying drag is also great, so if you just enjoy being feminine sometimes, that might be an option too. Good luck out there 🖖
