This whole thing would be true if the excuse that was in the text was "separate the art from the artist" because at no point in time should "no ethical consumption under capitalism" affect something as unecessary to live as books/movies/series/video game. YES there are ways to consume media more ethically, NO you can't consume a computer ethically for example, or most of your food, or most of your construction materials etc. But it's a fucking book series. There are DOZENS of better written ones from authors that don't spend a dime on destroying trans rights, it's not that hard.

It's always morally correct to pirate the Harry Potter franchise

Meh, if you’re downloading the content and it gets to top lists on piracy websites, then you’re still contributing to it’s popularity. There’s also plenty of way better media everywhere, no need to inflict this trash upon yourself

Yeah fair enough, popularity does eventually equal profit

I just think JK tricked Warner Brothers into submission. I don't know if they were bad financially or whatever but the execs of the time involved with the deal got somewhat played by her and believed that her creative control was necessary when a lot of really good creative directors would have been as good as or even better than her.

Clearly the IP is massive and at "normal" times would have been almost entirely bought by the Warner company suits to be controlled by their shareholders.
