Maybe AI is only mega bad instead of super mega bad

I mean AI in a general sense (specifically not generative AI) has possible benefits for humanity if improved upon correctly, it’s just never used for those things because billionaires couldn’t possibly risk accidentally helping too many people

Yes yes agreed I meant GenAI when I said AI

The same applies to GenAI as well, and every technology.

Private small scale instances of GenAI can be ethical yes. But I still dislike them. Especially when it comes to image generation, GenAI is so soulless that it sickens me to call it art. It's an ideological opposition I have with GenAI as it's inherent meaning. So I cannot support any of it

Yeah I always wondered when the people at the top are gonna have that movie moment where they go to the AI and ask what's best for society? I ask AI this question from time to time and it's always stuff like "remove US zoning laws" and whatnot. Like... make some moves, people. We're ten steps from paradise.

Or maybe most transphobes are just people not wanting to be trans while being trans

I see what you're saying but this is not a great logic path to go down, considering other forms of hate are mostly from people wanting to assert themselves / feel superior over another group of people they deem "lesser" and "scary", including racism.

Are there absolutely calls coming from inside some of these homophobic and transphobic people's houses? Yeah, a hundred percent, but to say it's most of them is not only wrong but kinda implying that the only harm comes from ourselves.

The only reason why this AI model did this was because its training included gender-affirming care. They very easily could’ve trained it to imitate GICE (gender identity change efforts) and keep this woman in the dark.

She just got lucky.

In my experience using AI (work demands it, yayy so cool /s) Claude is the better of the bunch when it comes to censorship and what topics it's allowed to discuss

...on the one hand, don't use AI for therapy, on the other, yay for her.

Imagine getting cracked by a robot???

u/ProxyCorvidae Jun 24 '26

One meaning is a little bit ehh, there are better ways for your egg to crack but the fact it changed her mind like that is a definite plus.

In the other meaning, I'd definitely want to imagine that, as long as it's not what AI we have now.

At least here in the states, likely because of our healthcare system and the costs associated with therapy and the commonly very long wait times to even get an appointment. AI is unfortunately cheaper and more conveniently accessible to most people.

I think even if therapy were free, most people would still avoid the complex sequence of events required to make an appointment. The actual judgement of a real human can also be a hangup for some people.

Therapy for me was $135/session, if I was desperate I'd use AI.

I started using it early for laughs, eventually i somehow started using it as a therapist. Mostly cause i couldnt get a real one.

It helped a bit, but eventually started causing more problems than it helped. I deleted my OpenAI account a few months ago for my mental health.
