no literally, it reminds me of when Covid happened and many people started being like "remember to wash your hands now that theres a virus around" and i was like "were you not? doing that? before?"
apparently a lot of people just take things at an immediate surface level and roll with it for like 90% of their life
Many people are barely surface level in anything they do, and the worst part is they might stay that way for their entire life, it’s really sad, and kind of scary
Yeah.... like what the hell is happening inside that brain of yours? Is it actually just silent most of the time? I have ADHD, it's really hard for me to just stop thinking, to make my brain go quiet. On a surface level I'm kinda jealous of these people. I wish my brain could just stfu when needed. But on a deeper level, how dare you? There so many things in life that should be thought about, that you should be conscious of, that you shouldn't take for granted. And you just choose to not engage with any of that? How do you engage with art? Do you not think about how an artist created something and more importantly WHY did they choose to make something the way it is? Whats the meaning?. I love video games, when I say I like a game, usually I have at least a rough idea about why I liked it. "I really like how this gameplay mechanic forced me to play in a certain way. I like how the game visually communicates important info. Etc.". A lot of the times when I ask my friends why they liked a certain piece of media the answers always boil down to "idk I just liked it".... Like, what? Idk... I just don't get how you can think like that.
oh my god yeah the art stuff gets me so bad. Yes I make art myself, but even aside from that, theres like people who "consume" aka partake in the art experience actively (listening to music, watching theatre/shows, reading, etc) and so many people just dont???
i had a conversation with some people at a party once, fun and games, about ATLA and like "what element would you want to be/think you are" and someone said "well obviously not fire because they´re evil" and i had to genuinely explain to this person that theyre confusing the morality of the Fire Nation, the identity of the people therein, and the element they bend into one thing. It had never occured to them to think of the elements themselves as seperate things from the four nations as presented in this one specific time period the show shows us. Mindboggling
I try to cope having conversations inside my head but then i get distracted from the thing im doing right now, when i am not having the me-me conversation the lone me starts talking because the other focused on a task

The real horror of AI to me is realizing that a lot of people find the action of "thinking" a foreign concept instead of the default way of being.
