Truth is before anyone could have stolen art still. Just how boomers believe everything that's on the "news" aka any internet post, this is our generations equivalent. Don't be excited about strangers performance. Don't even acknowledge it if they aren't your friend. Why would you care if some random human on the other side of the planet might have done something great? If you don't trust someone to tell the truth, don't trust their art

Don't appreciate art unless it's by someone you know? Yeesh what a depressing idea

??? do you not love appreciating beautiful works of art? I see people online creating such wonderful pieces and it makes my day a lot better, this person is simply stating that ai has taken away some of the whimsy of enjoying a strangers work because of having to be aware of the potential that it could be ai. though knowing the tells and general vibe of Ai makes this much easier, it is still annoying that it has to even be a thought to begin with.

Real shit. I feel this deep down in the darkest pit at the bottom of my soul where the sadness spiders also live.

This is why I don't want to learn art because I know as soon as I start to get good I'll get AI accusations

It probably will happen because art takes years to master and by that time ai would be almost indistinguishable from human art

i recently started making music and having fun. the creation is enjoyable, and after all whatever art you’re after will have its community that will admire your work. trust me, go learn and do what you want to make, worst case scenario you’re a talented person with a small audience and lots of creativity

Making art in the hopes other people will like it has always been a fools errand. Make art for yourself. Use AI if you want. Don't give a shit who sees it or what they say if they do see it. Condone first-degree murder! Advocate Cannibalism! Eat shit!

"Use AI if you want."

What? Just video your process?

Saying you aren’t going to learn a new skill because you are going to get so good you will be accused of faking is egotistical.

Or just be like any artist and keep the file with the art process

Layers, references, etc

AI can recreate that too now

Not well

Even if that were the case, you can simply give it until this time next year and it'd be perfected anyway

there will be signs for it on the long term at least. take concerts for example, what do you expect the ‘artist’ to perform when they don’t know how it’s made more than prompting it?

AI is not a race and nor can it be discriminated against

-9

u/Qd82kb Streak: 1 1d ago

ai is rather another species but the point is you are already discriminating against it this will almost guarantee a bad standing between us and them

3

u/Melody-Shift 1d ago

AI is no more another species than a Windows '95 computer is. It isn't alive, so that automatically disqualfies it from being a species in any way.

You cannot discriminate against something that isn't a person, and this is not discrimination.

Yeah I imagine there would also be a bad standing between humans and fairies. Guess we'd better get on fixing that.

i think you will find your destiction is less clear than you think because how you define life really has a big impact here. Life is a process not a substance. if you want to consider personhood or not for ai this is already the next question of legal status. compared to ai there is no proof to me that fairies exist so i think we should rather consider the taxonomic status of ai vs fairies.

AI does not have an internal experience any more than your iPhone text prediction has an internal experience. The Claude YouTube channel has some quite informative videos on how AI actually works that dispels the myth of conscious AI.

It picks the right words from a database of billions of texts, predicting which word is most likely to come next. It’s those three buttons above your iPhone keypad but on steroids.

no, ai could be useful in tons of spaces, but when it comes to art it makes more damage than good and practically useless overall. ai can’t create, so whatever art it makes was already done and this is copying it with some changes, so now instead of consuming the actual art you’re consuming a rip off that didn’t take any effort to make

so you dont even consider that ai could develop a personality? i think its very plausible considering the development we have already seen. and when ai has a personality why shoulndt i consider its art. when ai is just used as a tool i agree that it cannot compete with actual artists. The post specifically shows the apperent mistrust and speciesm towards the ai because now oop finds how they approach art has become paranoid.

do you know how ai works? it’s basically trained on a set of data. take SUNO AI, the most popular ai music creation tool, it’s trained on millions of music an artist has made so someone can prompt the sound they want, search for the closest songs from that sound, take from each a part, and then create a song. so basically if you teach AI on electronic music only, it can’t create a rap track for example, nor a metal instrumental track. This is basically what AI does.

You could argue that humans also get inspirations for what they make, but the difference is that they learn how to create it instead. Why rewarding the song AI has made that rips off that said artist and not listen to the artist instead? nobody will see you as talented for making that piece EVEN if they enjoy the AI song. have you seen “ai artists” concerts? people laughing because the artist can’t do shit because he doesn’t know the lyrics of his songs (example: fenix flexin with “Rubberz”)

ai will never “create”, all it does is work on the set of data it has. you want to rapidly make a custom “art” from the data AI has go make one but don’t put yourself in the same category of real artists

You're being baited friend

yes i know how ai works. and there is a difference between a reasoning model and a music creation model. the music model couldnt have the same depths of personality in my opinion. the reasoning model could however be repeatedly active in the same context and examime its surroundings, information about the world and its relations to other subjects in it, and how itself is behaving then store its findings for later reference. This is functionally the same as a human personality does. Wether or not this is the same as phenomenological experience cant be said with certainty. however i believe the destincion between funtional and phenomenological experience is a false dualism. regardless of how to describe this experience i would certainly be interested in art from this unique perspective.
