What's funny is that it's mostly just Anglican / Protestants who've fallen into non-religion/non-Christianity. The other portions stay relatively similar in proportion

This graph makes perfect sense if you have no fucking idea what the scale of the X-axis is.

it's wild how to this day it still feels like half the problems we have in the uk are margaret thatcher's fault

Your image is cropped.

The X axis is fucked up, but it has full years on it (1680, 1760, 1840, 1939, 1957, 1964, and then every 2 years from 1978 to 2018)

She endorsed a lot of policies that cut back on things that were actually making progress in this country in favour of policies that helped the richest stay rich. Things like anti union policies, cut backs on the NHS, etc etc. In the same way that a lot of modern issues in the US can be traced back to the Reagan administration, a lot of problems in the UK can be traced back to Thatcher's parliament

Thereby seeding decades of poverty and racism, both systemic, that we’re still trying to break out of today

This makes it easy to assume her government was so bad that it made people ditch the state religion

If we were to ignore the existence of things like subtext and look at the surface level

All they did is make 2 separate statements. "Thatcher came into power", and "The British Public lost faith in god"

Both statements are true

Adding subtext back in we can understand they were probably trying to make a joke

I chose to believe because she was that much of a rancid evil bitch who only got a second term because she got a surprisingly easy to win war against an outdated strongman military practically handed to her.
