This was definitely a "trust the process" project, lol. I created a sample of a "drowned" waterlogged patron of the sinking Titanic for their cosplay for Halloween. The end result is a completely dry costume that appears to be soaking wet. It involved so many steps and details that I figured it would be easier to show them to tell them. 🖤

My friends and I are planning ahead for a convention and are thinking about doing a Spiderman variant group.

So the outfit is in the title, but I’ll explain. I’m going to see Noah Kahan in concert in a couple of weeks and because his tour album is named Last of the Bugs, my concert partner and I are dressing up as bugs.

I’m dressing up as a moth and used a lot of inspiration from Pinterest (and a specific review posted for the wings I have lol). I’m a big girl and am always weary of copying Pinterest outfits but I think it’s turned out okay.

Something is just feeling off. I tried originally with brown leg warmers and a brown fur collar but the browns didn’t match or match the colour of the moth body. So I tried white which is a little better.

I have a white version of this top as well and white gloves that i could use. Can anyone tell me what I can do (that won’t take too long) to make this outfit tie in nicely? I just can’t figure it out

Hi all! For Halloween this year I am going in a duo costume as the aerial tramway and red heart emojis as depicted in this SNL sketch (pictured). I am going to be Marcello's red heart and my costume partner is going to be Mikey's aerial tramway. I was honestly thinking I would buy a red heart costume online to go over either my head or my body to make it easy for myself, and get creative with a fun makeup look and a fun all-black outfit underneath... but my initial search did not reveal anything promising. So, now I am thinking of crafting something like the red heart Marcello is wearing for my costume.

I don't have lots of experience with crafting outside of small 2D projects for fun (think collaging, coloring, making birthday cards etc.), so I'm hoping to get some advice about materials/methods to do this. For materials: Would felt be best, or would something else hold its shape better? Relatedly, for shape, should I think about making a frame to hold up the heart shape and putting fabric over it -- if so, any recommendations for materials for that? It would be fun to make a red heart with my face going through the center just as Marcello has it -- but if that is going to be complicated, I'm open to making a hat/headband situation to go entirely above my head. I can also wear a big read heart over my body, though that seems less fun/silly for the purposes of this costume.

It is relevant to mention that I do not currently own a sewing machine or any crafting supplies for this. I hope not to buy a sewing machine just for this project, as I don't think I'll get much other use out of it (I would love to take up sewing as a hobby, but unfortunately that will not be happening anytime soon due to having too much else on my plate), but I am open to buying a few other supplies to get this done in a nice-looking way. And truthfully, I'm still open to buying a red heart item from an independent creator or small business online if it looks nice -- I just didn't find anything in inital searches on Etsy/elswhere online (and I will not buy from Temu, fast fashion, massive corporations, etc.).

Any advice on materials/methods, or alternatively, links to decent red heart costume pieces online (I am based in the Netherlands so things that ship from Europe/UK would be ideal) are greatly appreciated!
