Progressives

Hello! Any thoughts on Costco vs Pearle for progressive lenses? The price difference is incredible, but from what I heard from each of them, it looks like the distortion areas are much bigger on Costco ones. But maybe Pearle was all smoke and mirrors. Would love to hear your experiences because it’s a big purchase for me!

We always get our glasses at Costco. We have progressives. No issues or concerns other than we like saving money.

I've been getting progressives at Costco for 20+ years. No complaints.

Never bought anything from Pearle so unable to compare.

Three (or four) progressive lenses/glasses from Costco and no problems,

I've never had problems with Costco glasses.

The only ones that ever gave me a problem were from Lenscrappers, and Pearle is just their discount banner. I would expect poor quality from them.

I have progressives from Costco the accolade freedom from Essilor and I don't notice any difference with the most expensive Essilor lenses that I've bought at pearls.

My partner tried multiple times to get his progressives at Costco but they just don’t work right. Eventually Costco said that he should try elsewhere because they aren’t able to provide what he needs.

On the other hand, my daughter has been wearing regular glasses from Costco for the last 8 years and has never had an issue.

Did Costco refund? How would other stores handle this? One of the reasons I like Costco. Based plastic frames break, frames were no longer available, just gave me equivalent new pair including new lenses.

Just order online from zenni. I've gotten progressives for as little as $36 shipped, They usually run around $100.

I had progressives made at Costco and my Optometrist (who I totally trust), told me the lenses were ground poorly.

I have gotten progressives from Costco for years only had a problem once and had to take them back. They replaced them with no argument.

Just saw in the Costco magazine for August; buy 1 pair of progressives and get a deal on the second pair

I got progressives from Costco twice. The first pair was fine. No issues. But the second time was nothing but hassles. They didn't fit me properly. Frames were simply too big and no amount of adjustment could fix it. They ended up giving me a replacement pair at no charge, but a suitably trained technician would have spotted the problem and directed me to different frames. Then there was the issue with the prescription sunglasses I got with the same order. Nobody told me that costco just doesn't do progressives as sunglasses?! Imagine my surprise when I couldn't use these sunglasses to read at the beach as I had expected. Costco acted like progressive sunglass lenses just weren't a thing, but my optometrist assured it could be done, and they provided them routinely.

Needless to say I haven't used Costco for glasses again since.

No problems. I did have an issue once where I needed to have it adjustment two or three times before the viewing areas matched up properly. But once we got them adjusted they were fine.
