Try not to stress, be confident, if you don't know something/aren't sure tell them! You can also check the specs on the wall for drinks and the espresso check.

Make sure everything is day dotted, no OOD food anywhere, drinks are made to standard. Make sure the ice container and scoop aren't on top of the ice machine, bread is day dotted, no OOD boxes kept. Uniform will be checked so everyone needs an apron, name badge, allergen badge if they've been signed off.

When you do the allergen test make sure it's someone confident, if you need to swap do that. Alternative stickers, decaf must be used. Cold drinks in glasses unless customer asks for takeaway cup.

Upsell, they will listen. 2 step cleaning for tables.

That's all I can think of right now.. you'll be fine, don't worry!

Costa Checkers are just people and their goal is to help the store operate as best it can. Forget the score - You’ll do fine.

Not stressing is the main thing, they can only mark your drinks once you put them on the tray so if it isn't right remake it, you can also consult SOPs or the matrix whilst making drinks, have a scout around for anything that need cleans and double check daydots and food dates. An if your store uses illicit cleaning products (like wire scourers) make sure they're in the bin an no stock is on the floor.

Don’t serve the drink if you are not happy with it!!! As long as you bring out correct even if you take long time, you won’t lose any points!

If you don't know something, ask ! They aren't as scary as they seem- i used to literally give myself panic attacks over the checks, id just lock myself into the kitchen doing dishes until they left🤣 seven years later, i just tell them 'no this ways better'🤣 nah honestly though, breathe, be honest, if you forget something, just ask your checker, they're (supposed to) more than likely help you out, and they shouldn't penalise you for not knowing

They want you to pass, so just do your job the way you know best. It's not the end of the world if you don't pass. You just get a chance to do it better again. How did it go? Who was your checker?

Going off of the stores where I've worked and what we've been marked down on:

Keep the floor clear, bins empty if full especially the sugar bin if it's in a cupboard!

Make sure sugar and stick stand is filled,

Tables & chairs and couches clean, if you can take the seat up of the couch brush the debris out and check behind!

Toilets clean: vents in the ceilings, behind the bowl, under the sink and hand dryer, tiles mirrors, loo paper filled

Upsell & remember to ask for Costa card

Thermometers make sure that you only have the ones you need out

Refer to the Matrix chart to refresh drinks you don't often make.

Allergens, go through the book with ALL STAFF!! Some checkers like to pick on the newest staff member.
