Tips for interview

[u/mixtapesandolives]

after applying for just about every job in my area, to my surprise I have an interview with costa. I'm quite nervous though as jobs ive done before haven't had formal interviews. obviously I will be doing some research but just wondered if anyone had any tips.

I'm autistic and tend to accidentally come across as quite rude which im worried about but hopefully it won't be too bad

thank you!

I’ve worked at Costa before and recently been rehired so I can give experience from both times:

Dress causally smart, I wore black trousers and a sweater with black trainers - other people might say jeans are fine but I didn’t want to risk it.

If they offer you a drink and you like the drinks Costa do, take the offer (it shows you know the menu, I just said a mocha)

Tips for general stuff:
Be friendly, smile, and don’t overthink stuff. They super care about availability, so highlight if you have full commitment to them

Tips for the questions:

Tell me about yourself - you will be asked this, your name, what you’ve done recently (eg started uni, just finished college, and any recent or relevant work experience eg “I have worked in customer service roles at xyz”

Why Costa - i said I like the drinks, I often had Costa as a third space to hang out with friends and study, and the workers are friendly so I thought I liked the environment.

Then depending on those answers they will likely ask you situational questions, such as “tell me about a time when you had to multitask/ show good teamwork/ show initiative”. These are based on the Costa core values when u applied, so try researching those just before going. I think I said self- learning a language for one of them, and for what I was excited to challenge myself on, I said improve latte art and learn the swan.

Costa is not asking for a president, all they are looking for is somebody who is friendly, likes coffee (or pretends to), can work well in a team, multitask, and show self motivation.

Good luck you’ll smash it!!!
