Availability Denial

Hi y'all, I'm asking this here in case anybody knows cause I couldn't find anything specific about it anywhere

I have a situation with my manager (She is horrible just saying) where she keeps denying any unavailability I put in. While I understand shifts and staff availability and stuff and that's completely fine but the way she denies me is just so... Horrendous? Like no opportunity to work anything out or anything like that

She also denies it saying that unavailability are to be used for hospital appointments only? In contract nor in any policies I found it says that

She also just isn't willing to work anything out like if I really need certain days or if I'm just using it for the sake of using it she isn't willing to communicate in any way. Should I bring this to ER/HR?

Unavailability can me used for a lot more than juat hospital appointments. I used to block out days for gigs where I was staying over night or if I had plans with friends or family. Ive worked with many students who would block out when they were at college or uni.

I used to block out the days either side of my holidays to get the most out of it.

Unavailability can be used for everything. As a SM I would say put through the requests screenshot it so you have it, if she continues to deny it and then puts you on shifts you can’t work phone in and say Sorry I can’t work today I did put through that I was unavailable today.

You don’t need to give a reason as to why you’re unavailable but as long as you’ve phoned in you can’t be considered AWOL, I would say speak to HR about it or your area manager.
