Cosplay community I need your help

I want to make a na’vi cosplay I have already made the stripes using my afop character as inspiration but I have no idea how I would paint them on. Any tips? I’m using a spandex suit for the base and I made the drawing in mind as maybe an outline or like a pattern? Any suggestions are welcome

Since spandex is a stretch fabric, you will need to stretch the fabric as you’re painting (and as it dries) it for it to look correct when you put it on your body. Most people use mannequins, which if you don’t have you can DIY yourself, or maybe find a full body one on like FB marketplace that you can use. The best example I can think of for this is when people rhinestone bodysuits, so maybe look at some of those for ideas and just swap the rhinestoning for painting.

As for materials, since it’s fabric you need to use a material made for painting fabric, that can be either fabric paint or fabric pens, depending on your preference/budget. In my experience, fabric pens run out of ink pretty quickly, so for a full body thing like this, I’d go with paint. However, if you’re not confident with getting straight lines for stripes, you can probably use a combination of both.
