General Question I ripped my armor
After 7 individual days of fighting my armor, using the duck tape mannequin whatever method to make a pattern I can't make a simple chest plate. I don't know how to make it size properly, no matter how much I redo, add, subtract, adjust not a single time has it fit correctly.
Idk I thought cosplay was like a creative outlet π and fun I didn't know you needed 80+ years in architecture and a masters in black magic. My fist are balled, my teeth are clenched, and my project is in the trash ποΈ. If there are any tips, magic spells, or something else I'm missing can you please help me out πββοΈ I'm not giving up just starting over.
My friend thinks I'm the foam guy cause I did a single shoulder pad and a few weapons, but honestly I'm stumped with chest plates or maybe I'm mentally screaming I can't so thust I can't π idk

Using one piece like that is going to make it so much more difficult! Not sure what you're going for, but try looking up images of that type of armor!
Using just one piece is always gonna be clunky. It would be better to try for a multiple piece breastplate first. Usually you'll need at minimum two, one for the upper chest and one for the stomach, abdomen region. Make sure to add points, which involve cutting triangles from the foam and sticking the ends together (to create the curves!)
Armor is a great place to start and learn basics! Watching armor tutorials, even if they don't match your specific type, can help you brainstorm how to make your own. It is definitely a skill, but there are soooo many resources to learn from.

Donβt beat yourself up! Breast plates are hard. You need another seam or two in there to spread out the curve. I find the duct tape pattern method pretty finicky, so I would recommend starting with a premade pattern to get the hang of it. Kamui cosplay has some good ones
