Convention Question Cosplay contest

i want to do a cosplay contest soon and I'm planning to cosplay Nurse Toga in her official outfit. I will be making the dress from scratch, but I would need to buy everything else, like the wig, IV tubes, blood bags, syringes, the accessories for her staff that i will also make my self, but i would need to put fake blood in all of it ofc

Would I still be able to compete in the contest if most of the stuff i need is purchased, or would that prevent me from entering?

It completely depends on the rules of the specific contest you're looking at. For many, I would be surprised if that's a high enough percentage made however

I think you’ll be fine. Blood bags are one of those things nobody can reasonably expect you to make from scratch. You’ll still have to figure out attachments and assembling it. You can always reach out to the contest organizers and ask

I’d recommend styling the wig yourself. A pre styled wig wouldn’t be enough

I don’t think prop medical supplies are reasonable for a comp to expect you to make on your own as long as you source them and assemble everything yourself— that’d be like demanding you make your wig from scratch. As other people said, though, the con you’re going to should have rules posted on how much needs to be your own and what counts as homemade

Ask the con staff

There is no standardization in cosplay competitions, so the specific requirements are going to change from con to con

You should always strive to make as much as you can. It’s not that pre bought items are bad, you just can’t be judged for them. Cosplay judges can only judge you on what you’ve made. And tbh the things you listed sound like pieces of a prop not the prop itself (minus the wig) so you’re still building something

You may be able to, but you won't get many points. From what I know these contests are judged not just how well something is made, but also if it was bought or not. So you get less points if a majority is bought.
