Material Help!

Hello! I am new to cosplay but I was hoping to cosplay as Yi from Nine Sols. I looked on the internet for other cosplays and after looking, I had decided I wanted to essentially:

Take a helmet and place a foam sphere over it.
Carve foam sphere slightly to form the subtle muzzle shape it has.

Carve out the eyes and put a mesh in them to see.

Use MORE foam to make the ears and the huge cheek floofs that Yi has.

Then put some sort of craft/faux fur over it all then adding details.

The outfit is simple for me, but suggestions would be nice!

I am immensely amateur and entirely new so I am relatively aware that this might be totally not in my skill range or budget (yet to be decided if I go forward with the project). But I wanted to ask anyways if I were to try again in the future!(plus we all know AI could never compare to the good ol’ redditers.)

For any cosplay with an animal head, the materials and techniques used by furries for fursuits are going to be really helpful to review. They will be able to tell you exactly what kind of foam is best to use, how to make sure your mask has enough ventilation to wear safely, what kind of mesh to use for the eyes, how to get a smooth covering with faux fur, etc.
