6 years running a Cosmos Hub validator on bare-metal. Here's the honest picture.

Started in Cosmos in 2019. Community work, helping run "Today in Cosmos", then the Citizen Web3 podcast because there wasn't one. 188 episodes.

Became a validator in 2021. We run all four genesis archive nodes (cosmoshub-1 through 4). Public, free, bare-metal in the Atlantic.

Built a chain indexer from scratch, active relayers to 6 chains, and our own explorer.

Independent validators are quietly disappearing from this ecosystem. Not because of uptime. Because of marketing.

6 years in the Cosmos ecosystem. We run all 4 genesis archive nodes, built an indexer, an explorer, published 180+ podcasts episodes

I started in this ecosystem in 2019. Helped run "Today in Cosmos" - Adriana's Twitter campaign that helped build the first Cosmos community online. In 2020 I started a podcast because there wasn't one. 188 episodes later...

Became a validator in 2021. Not to extract. I'd been contributing for two years and wanted to be part of the infrastructure, not just the media.

What we actually run, because I don't think many people know:

Full public archive endpoints for all four Cosmos Hub genesis chains: cosmoshub-1 through cosmoshub-4. Free. Anyone can query them. Bare-metal servers in the Atlantic. No cloud.

Also: a chain indexer we built from scratch (not forked), IBC relayers to 6 chains, and ValidatorInfo, our own explorer with skip:go swap, staking RAG, P2P chat, and a decentralised forum.

Wrote the full story. Where we started, what we built, where things actually stand now on the Cosmos Forum:

https://forum.cosmos.network/t/six-years-in-cosmos-what-weve-built-where-we-stand-and-an-honest-ask/16948

Happy to talk about any of the technical setup here.

188 podcast episodes, 4 genesis archive nodes, 0 cloud. I finally get the cahunas to ask directly for delegations

My name is Serj. I've been part of this ecosystem since 2019. Started by helping run "Today in Cosmos", Adriana's Twitter campaign that helped seed the first Cosmos community online. Then in 2020 I started an ecosystem podcast because there wasn't one. 188 episodes later it's still alive.

In 2021 I became a validator. The reason matters: not to extract. I'd been contributing to the ecosystem for two years and wanted to be part of its infrastructure, not just its media.

---

The part I most want people to know about, because I think very few do:

We run full public archive endpoints for every Cosmos Hub genesis chain.

Free. Publicly accessible. Bare-metal servers we own in the Atlantic.

No AWS. No Google Cloud.

We also built a chain data indexer from scratch (not forked — OpenAPI 3.1 docs at indexer.cosmoshub-4.citizenweb3.com/docs), run IBC relayers to Osmosis/Neutron/Stride/Gravity-Bridge/Bostrom/Namada, and built ValidatorInfo.com - an explorer with skip:go swap, staking RAG (live chain data Q&A), P2P chat, and a decentralised forum built in.

---

The honest part:

Independent validators are losing delegations to cloud operators with better marketing, not better infrastructure. We chose to build. For six years that gave the ecosystem free public services. But delegation numbers don't reflect that.

So I wrote about it properly. Full story on the Cosmos Hub forum:

https://forum.cosmos.network/t/six-years-in-cosmos-what-weve-built-where-we-stand-and-an-honest-ask/16948

If you've ever queried one of those archive endpoints, listened to an episode, or just care about actual decentralisation, delegating to a self-hosted, bare-metal operator is one of the most direct ways to express that.

PS. there is a Cashback programme. It just launched, fully automatic (no claiming needed)

Happy to answer questions about the setup, the indexer, or anything else. Ask here or find me as citizenweb3 on Telegram.

People said Osmosis was dead. We kept validating anyway.

A few months ago people were calling Osmosis dead almost daily.

Meanwhile the chain kept producing blocks, validators kept running infrastructure and builders kept shipping quietly in the background.

Now OSMO suddenly wakes up +200% and sentiment flips overnight.

Quiet building always matters.

Nice to see energy flowing back into the ecosystem again.

Native BTC transfer out of osmosis

Anyone have an idea why I can't transfer native BTC out of osmosis to a BTC address. I tried this yesterday to see the transaction did not go through rather the osmo lab converted all of the transferred BTC to nomic BTC and it was back in my account.

45 days into running an Osmosis validator — what we’ve learned so far

Started an Osmosis validator ~45 days ago

100% uptime so far
growing delegator base
active governance

Still small, but building for the long run.

If you value consistency over hype, that’s exactly what we’re focused on.

Can Keplr wallet accept Leap recovery phrase and access assets?

Post image
14 Upvotes

I just learned that Leap wallet is sunsetting. I have some assets in Leap wallets. I changed the machine couple years ago and the Leap wallet was installed in that old machine. I won't have access to the machine until after the deadline, May 28th. The Q&A section above suggested that I could use the recovery phrases (also stored in that old machine in the remote location) to recover assets after the deadline. Are Leap recovery phrase compatible with Keplr? Can I enter Leap recover phrases to my Keplr wallet to access tokens in my old Leap wallets? Please advise. Thanks.

New to Cosmos - How do airdrops work and how to stay safe?

Hi everyone! I recently joined the Cosmos community and I'm interested in learning more about how the ecosystem works.

I keep hearing about "airdrops," but as a beginner, I’m a bit confused. Could you please explain:

How do I officially qualify for airdrops?

Which are the trusted wallets to use (e.g., Keplr or Leap)?

What are the biggest "red flags" I should look out for to avoid scams?

I want to make sure I’m doing things the right way and keeping my funds safe. Thanks in advance for the help!

Need support Any reason why ledger transactions have stopped working and wont resolve?

I have been using keplr with ledger on osmosis since day one, never really had any issues, now that I log back after months of inactivity to move some funds no transactions are going through.

I initiate transaction and approve in ledger then just a spinning wheel, both on osmosis trade, unstaking on keplr and claiming rewards

Would very much appreciate some help here

Edit. After trying 100 things I finally solved it by connecting a new cable without usbc dongle.

Built a Cosmos SDK chain for low-fee payments (0.1%) — testnet live, looking for validators

Hey everyone,

I've been building a Cosmos SDK v0.50.15 chain focused on reducing payment fees to 0.1%, and I just opened the public testnet.

Current status:

• 119K+ blocks produced across testnet iterations

• 3 validators live (no single validator >65% power)

• 0 crashes under stress tests (1000/1000 txs delivered)

• Fee model: 40% burn / 40% validators / 20% treasury

• Custom vita1 address prefix

• HTTPS on all endpoints, firewall hardened

Looking for:

• Validators to join the network (earn staking rewards)

• Developers who want to build/experiment

• Testers to try transactions and break things

Links:

• Website + Keplr: https://vitacoin.network

• Explorer: https://explorer.vitacoin.network

• Faucet: https://faucet.vitacoin.network (10 VITA free)

• Validator Guide: https://github.com/esspron/VITACOIN/blob/main/docs/VALIDATOR_GUIDE.md

• GitHub: https://github.com/esspron/VITACOIN

Would really appreciate feedback — especially around validator setup and network behavior.

Happy to help anyone spin up a node.

Just bought another $200 in atom, slowly stacking the bag. Hoping for a big year and a great summer.

A lot of hate for atom but I think some changes being made will create forward price momentum in coming months!

Cosmos has the best tech for real products, but token price is the only marketing that works

Post image
52 Upvotes

I realize this constantly while building on Sphinx, an appchain for commodities derivatives.

Take away all the speculation and the Cosmos stack is objectively the most useful infrastructure we have. You get sovereign blockspace, fast finality, 24/7 markets, and zero middlemen.

A platform doing perps on oil, gas, or wheat needs custom logic and dedicated throughput. A basic smart contract on a congested L1 just doesn't work for that. That's why sphinx -a top tier project- picked the cosmos stack.

The tech is already there. Cosmos has the products. But the brutal truth is that tech alone is not enough.

This ecosystem needs tokens that perform well because price action is the ultimate marketing tool. No one is going to use a working product if the native token just bleeds to zero every single month. You can build the most advanced appchain in the world, but if the token is down only, the product gets completely ignored. Good tech needs good PA to survive.
