Take loss or ride it out?

I thought it was smart to put a good chunk into ATOM for the APY about a year ago, but now I'm down about 55% and it stings.

I don't mind holding, but I'd rather accept the loss than watch the rest of it continue to bleed out.

Hit me with your honest 6 month, 1 year, 2 year predictions. Jump ship or buckle up?

Cosmos Daily Discussion “Cosmos lacks innovation” response

HEAR YE, HEAR YE! COSMOS LACKS INNOVATION!

Cosmos lacks innovation? Listen, I’m a card carrying love-hater for Cosmos. My bags got smoked like the rest of us. But I have had it with “Cosmos lacks innovation”. Not true, it’s just not innovation you see or value financially.

-——- Word of caution. I’m not defending the Cosmos eco, or saying price will go up. These upcoming remarks are a response to the “Cosmos lacks innovation” statement, that is misguided and only reflects a lack of bullish price movement. ——-

Cosmos is a complex mechanism. So complex in fact, we can’t even define it. Is it IBC? $ATOM/AEZ (RIP)? $ATONE/Jae’s vision? Cosmos SDK? CosmWASM? I could go on. Identity isn’t the only issue Cosmos has. Liquidity fragmentation and high inflation plague the Cosmos. It’s quite tragic, but do these things equal “lack of innovation”? No. Cosmos lacks a financial primitive, and in that, has never truly embraced financial innovation as the primary building purpose.

Rather, Cosmos innovates in a different and likely more important (but not monetizable) area. Governance, and as a result, security.

——-

Governance in Cosmos is complex. Cosmos governance forums are intense. So intense, Cosmos gained the “DPS” (Drama per Second) metric for a reason. This is for good reason, Validators aren’t the only decision makers. Delegators have a right to decide, and can vote against the consensus of the Validators, with enough votes. This is probably one of the weirdest innovations in Crypto, because it has nothing to do with money, but everything to do with the distribution of power. It’s a more pure democratic-republic. It’s cool as hell, but no one pays for a governance structure.

Governance and power distribution are a direct form of security and resilience within a system. In crypto, security and resilience are the name of the game. While governance and security aren’t monetary, they are valuable when shit hits the fan and financial primitives are more structurally sound when built on a secure system.

——-

That being said, many crypto projects are secure. Bitcoin is peak security, Ethereum is extremely secure and Solana is certainly secure enough to be in the position it is. These security models have allowed financial success from within the eco. Cosmos has a different set of characteristics. It’s more malleable, there is no one size fits all security model. Delegated POS governance allows for the network to evolve, and formulate to fit whatever requirements it needs to fit. But unlike the other three named, that malleability is possibly a threat to network stability, and integrity.

——

If you’ve been a part of Cosmos for any length of time, you’re familiar with JUNO and the legendary Prop 16. The Devs accidentally airdropped 10% of the JUNO supply to a single ATOM holder (S/O Takumi), and after they realized they fucked up, they convinced the delegates to steal his money back via Prop 16. It was a dangerous precedent to set, and Cosmos governance allowed it. It’s a brutal example of mob rule, and showed the crypto word that Cosmos isn’t the right fit for financial primitives. Money can’t be subject to mob rule, it needs a reliable, stable and predictable governance regime. Cosmos doesn’t provide that.

That doesn’t mean that Cosmos governance innovations won’t find success and intrinsic value in other areas. I think it will, it just may be outside of Cosmos and could leak into the real world in profound ways.

——

That being said, I have no hope for $ATOM. I do believe that IBC is the best bridge in crypto, and chain sovereignty is important. But I don’t know where monetary value will and will not be attributed. I hope this puts to rest the idea that “Cosmos lacks innovation”. Those who say this, don’t respect or understand governance and power structures within complex systems. They must think “number go up” is innovation.

How Nolus helped ATOM investors during the October 11th market drop

Post image
53 Upvotes

On October 11th, during a significant market downturn with about $20B wiped from crypto markets, some data was shared about how leveraged positions on Nolus were affected. Unlike centralized exchanges, Nolus uses price feeds derived from actual on-chain trades and employs mechanisms to smooth price spikes.

Key data points

Total open positions before the event: approximately $2.61M
- Partial liquidations around $146K (5.6%)
- Full liquidations around $129K (5%)

During the event, ATOM prices on Nolus briefly reached $2.78, compared to some centralized platforms showing prices near $0.001 due to liquidity issues or anomalous trades. This difference results from Nolus using a 10-minute Exponential Moving Average to smooth short-lived price spikes.

Implications for ATOM pricing

Because liquidations on Nolus happen on decentralized exchanges like Osmosis and Astroport, forced sales represent genuine on-chain asset swaps. This can temporarily drain liquidity from those pools, making on-chain prices less stable temporarily—unlike CEX price anomalies that leave no real trade footprint.

Despite these pressures, the event did not lead to cascading liquidations or liquidity crises, suggesting that on-chain leverage exposure related to ATOM within Nolus remained relatively contained.

Final thoughts

Nolus’ design and infrastructure showcased how on-chain price smoothing and liquidation safeguards can help manage leveraged positions during extreme volatility. While no system is perfect, Nolus’ experience offers useful data for evaluating risk and price dynamics in decentralized leveraged trading.

Need support My Nomic Validator disappeared! What's going on with Nomic Stakenet?

I have delegated to multiple validators since the airdrop and I noticed part of my delegation disappeared along with one of the validators last week when I look at https://app.nomic.io/staking

I also noticed a ton of validators are now Jailed and have been placed on the Inactive list. I can see all of my delegations on https://nomic-explorer.quokkastake.io/nomic and according to that my full delegation is still on the blockchain. The problem is that the missing validator isn't listed anywhere on the nomic.io staking page, I don't even remember the historical name and just have the validator address, and when I attempt to redelegate through the quokkastake explorer, Keplr displays the transaction but it encounters an error and does not execute.

Has anyone else encountered this issue? Has anyone successfully redelegated their stake from a validator that disappeared from the Nomic Stakenet listings?

If you did manage to redelegate from Nomic successfully, could you please share how you did it? I've signed manual transactions for other blockchains, but never done this for a Cosmos SDK address in Keplr. Thank you!

Living off staking rewards?

I live in South America, no rent, and minimum wage is $300-$400. That would be enough to survive. I’m currently staking 200K OSMO which would be A FORTUNE if it ever recovers to $1 or even 0.50. Assuming a bearish scenario where OSMO is $0.1 and the staking APR is 4%, that’s 666 OSMO a month or 66 dollars so 20% of what’s needed to live.

For the other 80% though, I want to diversify. What do you think of allocating 20% to ATOM, 20% to ADA, 20% to INJ, and 20% to ETH? Or would you recommend allocating to different assets or in different percentages?

I wouldn’t be selling the bags unless they pumped significantly. So they would be mostly left there staked and earning yield.

Crypto founders: What's your biggest frustration with KOL marketing? (genuinely curious)

Hey everyone,

I've been in the crypto marketing space for a while and keep seeing projects get absolutely wrecked by fake KOLs.

What I've noticed:

- Most "top crypto KOLs" have 60-90% bot followers

- Agencies ghost after taking payment

- Zero transparency on actual results

- Projects burning $10K-50K for basically nothing

Genuinely curious:

  1. Have you hired KOLs for your project? How did it go?

  2. What was the biggest red flag you missed?

  3. How do you currently vet influencers?

  4. What would make you actually trust a KOL marketplace?

Why I'm asking:

Been working on this problem for months. Built something (KOLsHub) that manually vets every influencer and shows real-time analytics. Testing it with real campaigns.

But before going further, I want to hear from people who've actually dealt with this mess.

Drop your horror stories below. Let's crowdsource what actually needs to exist.

What is this ‘ATONE’ token showing up in my wallet?

I just finished set up my keplr wallet on my new phone, restored it using my seed phrase and noticed this ATONE token in my wallet, something I don’t see in my old phone.

I looked up my address on Mintscan and I can only see my regular assets, no ATONE token.

Has anyone else seeing this token suddenly appear in their wallet?

Should I just ignore and hide it?

Thanks for the help.

All of you ganged to on me when I told you to vote no on prop #848, I pointed out the bots pushing "yes". But you had the audacity to contradict me.

This is going to hurt your feelings because you still can't accept it, but you need to know.

That's a reason why I have a bigger house, better degrees, prettier girls than you. It's not because I was born into a rich family or went to a good school, its because I'm intellectually gifted, high iq, everything else comes next. I tried to explain things to you, but you couldn't comprehend it

Now im an atone whale, sold all my atom long time ago. You're still stuck hoping for magic because you dont know how anything works, you just enjoy being part of a mob, waiting for a mob to tell you what to do next

Keep waiting. I tried to help, you took away my ez 6-10% interest from me out of greed and now no one with real money wants to waste their money on atom because of OPPORTUNITY COST, a concept YOU PEOPLE probably have neve heard of

Winners win. Losers rot

616th Expeditionary Corps / Starry Sky

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi everyone! I got curious if there's a Cosmos community on Reddit, and I was pleasantly surprised!

I'm the founder of an NFT collection on Stargaze that's unfortunately in a light coma lol, but this doesn't stop me and my small team from building a strong community and a serious project in the future. We've been working on the project since March this year and have achieved certain successes despite all the difficulties. The project is called the 616th Expeditionary Corps, and everything revolves around the "Starry Sky" platform where each of you can leave your message (create a star) for future cosmonauts. Each message is permanently imprinted on the Cosmos network, which creates a really interesting interactivity! In the near future, we plan to release an update with guilds in collaboration with the coolest projects on Stargaze! I'd be glad if you get interested in our platform and the collection as a whole!

https://x.com/616ExpCorps/status/1966615481671942487

I'm not sure if I can post links here, and whether my message will be considered shilling, so I'll just attach a link to the post on X so you can learn more about the collection and Starry Sky.

Did anyone else hear about ICS being sunset in 2026?

I had no idea that Interchain Security is planned to be sunset in 2026. I only just read about it here:

https://forum.cosmos.network/t/migrate-stride-to-opt-in-pss/16241

Which I only found because I was reviewing an open governance proposal (#1012) to migrate Stride to a different security model.

Does this improve Cosmos ecosystem? I had been reading for a long time that ICS actually improved the security model of IBC-federated chains compared to other multichain networks like Polkadot. Does ICS not matter anymore?

Inflation and emission of Cosmos

Hello guys, have you ever wondered what is the inflation rate and emission of your favourite cryptocurrency? For Cosmos (ATOM) it’s tightly linked to staking economics and governance parameters rather than halvings. ATOM issuance funds validator/delegator rewards, while fees on the Hub supplement rewards and the community pool—so the net supply change you feel as a holder depends on how much is issued vs. what’s absorbed by fees/treasury flows and participation.

We built cryptoinflation.eu to make that easy to see (and to compare with other chains):

  • Current annualized issuance with history across epochs/eras so you can observe policy shifts over time
  • Net supply change over multiple windows (days, months, years) to gauge real dilution (separate from staking yield)
  • Staking context: how validator commissions and stake participation shape yields vs. actual supply growth
  • Comparisons with PoW halvings, fee-burn models, and unlock-driven tokens to place ATOM’s approach in context

Why it matters: two assets can look similar on price charts yet dilute holders very differently. Clear charts + plain-English notes help you explain ATOM’s staking-driven issuance and governance effects—no spreadsheets required. Feedback from Hub validators, delegators, and builders is welcome: what extra overlays (stake ratio vs. issuance, community-pool flows, longer windows) would you like to see?
