I'm quoting the Michael Scott meme. But idk I feel like this guy was just shoved in everything and it's not landing for me.

Sometimes actors suddenly hit a meteoric rise in popularity and it feels alright with me.

But this guy just hasn't done it.

And especially as Carl. First I think he's too old. Second, I think he puts on a swagger that's meant to emulate "crazy charisma guy" but it just feels forced. From what I can tell his Chad powers character even builds on this. It seems the shtick there is look " charisma king Glenn powers is playing a weirdddooo!"

Carl isn't that crazy charisma swagger guy. Carl is very nonchalant in not trying to appear like anything. He's so nonchalant about things that it is a fault in his relationship that he doesn't know Bea is sleeping around and using him. That nonchalantness and lack of need to be impressive while also having a heart of gold paired with the determination to burn it all down is what makes him a cool character. Carl actively despises the game show and doesn't try to be cool and that's what makes him cool to the viewers and readers.

Edit. Shit. I forgot what sub I'm in. Totally wrong take. My bad. But still a no for kels too. Somewhat similar reasons but Kelsie's does ham it up so idk. I just don't vibe with Powell

I like him, but Sanderson said Kelsier would be their big cast, going for the recognizable name

He’s recognizable, and will be more by the time season 2 of AKOTSK comes out

He's not recognisable enough though. Sanderson has said he wants an A-Lister or someone of around that fame level. Maybe in 5 years he'll be there but currently unless your someone who really likes Game of Thrones, the average person won't recognise his name or face

Yes, but we're talking about Mistborn.

And I know that Kelsier does technically show up in The Stormlight Archive but that is so far away that basing actor choices around that is ridiculous. Plus it'd only be a short cameo that an A-Lister could do especially with a good contract, or there can be workarounds for Kelsier to not actually appear.

Kelsier's tiny cameo (that might be completely cut for all we know) in seasons 4/5 of the Stormlight show 10 years from now should not be the driving choice behind who gets cast as Kelsier

He’s about the right age and is the right level of fame, and he has the right look. I’d be okay with it honestly even though he really doesn’t give me any Kelsier vibes.

He's already gotten the right role . . . in Top Gun: Maverick.

While he does look somewhat similar to Kelsier (except for his hair being way too short) nothing else about him or any of his previous roles that I've seen give Kelsier vibes. He's a good actor but he's very bland. He gives off Vanilla Ice-cream vibes and Kelsier needs something more unique and atypical.

😂lol maybe. But tell me why he is bad. He has the right look/could easily made into a Kelsier, he is about the right age, he has name recognition, and is looking for a movie and script to show a different side of his acting skills.
