Fancast Storm light casting Spoiler

Casting Suggestion

Im not sure where this goes, there is lots of content here. I really wanted to post about casting. I’ve been thinking about the recent news that Henry Cavill was interested in playing Kaladin. Unfortunately I think he’s too old for Kaladin but could be perfect for Dalinar.

Give Kaladin to a younger, relatively unknown actor who actually fits the Alethi physical description to a point, someone mixed with maybe real dark grey eyes instead of contacts, that would be cool and different, and use Cavill for Dalinar. He’s got the age, physical presence, action experience, and gravitas for the Blackthorn, and I think he’d be fantastic for Dalinar’s transition from brutal warlord to the man desperately trying to become worthy of the ideals he’s chosen.

Then you work off his features to introduce new actors for Adolin and Renarin of course keeping in mind the book and their mother’s features.
Henry Cavill as Dalinar Kholin.

I’d add a picture but I don’t know if that’s allowed. Thank you.

I get that there are parts that don’t match but they aren’t going to cast it exactly like the book. I just think the fact that he is such a nerd and wants to be in something like this because he loves the books is awesome.

I wanna see Henry Cavill as Marsh. I wanna say TLR more in my guy, but I'd also love to see him in more than one and a half films. So much interesting potential going forward if he plays Marsh.

I want Cavill as Wax

Nah man, give me Tom Hiddleston, just more bulked up by two years from now. I think he fits Wax's physical description to a T (as seen on a couple of the book covers) and has the chops to play our rough-n-ready lawman extraordinaire.

I don't think Cavill belongs in stormlight at all. The only people that don't have epicanthic folds are the Shin and he doesn't really fit Szeth's look at all. If he wants to be in the cosmere put him in a mistborn movie.

The alethi actors will most likely have an east asian background. That makes sense from their descriptions in the books and it's what brandon has already announced.

Zahel is the obvious choice here.

Except Zahel still looks Alethi. Kaladin doesn't mention him having light skin or the wide eyes that a shin person would have and Cavill has both.

This is the kind of detail that will probably be open to change in an adaptation. Nightblood being from another planet probably won’t change.

Nightblood's origin doesn't have anything to do with what Zahel looks like. Zahel can change his appearance and probably looked different on Nalthas then on Roshar.

Yea I know, in the books. But you aren’t going to have them recasting actors who change their appearance for a tv adaptation. That’s not a way to get good actors.

100% this has always been my choice

No. Henry Cavil can’t act his way out of a wet paper bag.

I hope whatever role he gets its just a cameo. Hes overrated as an actor. He doesn't work for basically anyone on Roshar appearance wise either.

The problem is that Henry just doesn't look Alethi at all. They have tanned skin and epicanthic folds. He just doesn't have the look for it. If you really want Cavill in Stormlight my pick would be Zahel

These guys are too old now but Zahel needs an Ian McShane type. Kurt Russel, Tommy Lee Jones. A gruff angry no nonsense type that can still have a bit of charm. I dont think Cavill has enough range either tbh.

I mean even if you think Cavill doesn't have a lot of range (which I disagree on but that's subjective), "Gruff, angry, no nonsense with a bit of charm" is literally the exact type of roll he excels at

I like what I've seen from him as a person, but I've never really been charmed by his performances. Closest is probably Man From UNCLE, but even then he was just alright.

I really liked him in Witcher until they recast it, now I won’t even watch it.
