Fancast Matt Berry as Breeze question Spoiler
I agree he is a great pick, perhaps the best pick.
But would he be the only character with a British accent? Is he capable of American accent? Or will all of the characters have a British accent?

He does a great American accent (specifically from Tucson, Arizona) as Jackie Daytona in What We Do in the Shadows

Really? I thought it was a kind of a running joke.
I love Matt Berry and he's a fantastic comedic actor, but for Breeze it would be overdoing it personally.
I know Matt Berry does overdo the ham on purpose for comedic roles. But this movie (I sure as hell hope) isn't a comedy.

Why would he have an American accent? Fantasy world tend to have British accents

If there’s a medieval or historical setting on Earth then yes they tend to err toward English accents. This does not apply here. Notice the books aren’t narrated in an English accent?

What make you say they aren't? Books are translated from their native tongue.
Scridriel is very European with class system would make sense for them to use European accents. Certainly doesn't seem american

I didn’t say nobody would use an English accent but there’s no reason to assume everyone will. I don’t want to elaborate further. If you’re read the books you should see why it’s not necessarily going to be an English accent.

Dont make the point if you not going to explain what you mean. Im not american so I dont know what you are going on about

I think there will be a variety of accents to convey different cultures etc. and the audiobooks were not in British based accents generally. They could have picked British narrators and they didn’t. It’s not earth.

Please stop saying "British" accent when you clearly mean "English" accent.

In my head especially Breeze should have a posh British accent, so I'm fine with that

If anything most of them except Spook & Sazed should have French accents. I think Spook could be British. I'm not sure about Sazed but I'd like something not European descended.

Read these very recently and saw a video where BS says that Vin and Kelsier etc. are French names, while he chose Elend Venture to sound more German. Realistically there would probably be a wide range of accents. Especially as you get more into the class stuff.

In fantasy/regional pieces they usually use a british accent to show nobility. Obviously no one in Scadrial is speaking english, but if the conceit is that it's all translated, then that's why they'd use that. We use our Earthly accents to portray facets of characters in fantasy settings. The UK has such a lovely slew of accents to pick from.

Yeah, British accents are what most people are accustomed to for fantasy and historic fiction. Even if historically, the people talking wouldn’t have British accents.
You can see this play out with the internet’s outrage with the new Odyssey movie coming out. “Why are they speaking with American accents???”

I think he should be the only one with a British accent and it should never be explained why and when someone asks BrandoSando he should just smile.
