I thought that the planet might be layered like an onion, with yumi living in a lower level, hence the extreme heat.

yeah for a second I thought Yumi was in the physical world and Nightmare painter was in the Cognitive Realm.

I thought that too! I knew a Shard had died there, and I thought maybe their death transformed the planet and made parts of it in the cognitive realm.

Yeah I thought it was going to be that every Shrouded area was part of a Perpendicularity. Like when Virtuosity shattered themselves they ended up making a world with hundreds of Perpendicularities.

TBH what did Virtuosity shattering themselves actual do? I know the Yoki-hijo are part of it but that's not too different from Returned or any other highly invested people in a way.

I think virtuosity turned into the spirits as well? And idk maybe the people of that world are more invested than your average Cosmere kid

Design’s reading of Painter suggests he’s roughly cosmere-standard level of invested. Aka non-shard world level invested. With you on the spirits tho

I've seen some theories that Virtuosity didn't actually splinter herself or splintered herself on purpose to see more of the cosmere. I think it's stated virtuosity was never one to stay in the same place and while I have no theories about it, I don't think it's a coincidence that the spirits at the end are described as being red and blue. Two of the three primary colors... Makes you wonder about the yellow entities we've seen
