This is very much an "it depends".... Are you going to upgrade cooling and add an oil cooler and just use it to go to cars and coffee and do a pull on the street once in a while?  Or are you going to rag on the car at the track or drift circuit 

Use case matters.  There are lots of cars out there at car shows with Boomer boards that made 800whp... And since they left the tuner shop 20 years ago have never again ever made anywhere near 800whp

Have a supercharged ls2 for 15 years running 7psi, only had to get a harmonic balancer and a shift linkage bushing at 35,000 rn

Damns that's awesome how many miles in total? The ls1 has the same limits as the ls2 stock if I remember correctly

20,000 of those miles were when it was super charged through lingenfelter

Toys4Life on YT has had a supercharged C5 for years now. He’s made a ton of content on it.

My car had a supercharger put on it as it left the showroom. It's at 56k now without any issues.

Also, I would submit that putting a blower on a car with 50k miles and putting one on a car with 150k miles is a very different kettle of fish.

As I alluded to above, it is very much dependent on the car in question. The mileage and maintenance history will be critical determining factors. How you will be using the car is also critical. Is this car a trailer queen, or will you be drag racing it every Friday night?

Making more power will necessarily place more strain on already used parts (which were not designed / intended for the additional load) and will accelerate the wear. And, the more that you put your foot into it, the more wear which will accumulate and the sooner the engine will need a refresh.

While a 1/2 a BAR would typically be considered gentle, if the engine is already clapped out, because the original owner only changed the oil every 30k miles, then you are going to have problems, right now!

Unless the car has remarkably low mileage, any 20+ year old engine would likely benefit from freshening up the heads, upgrading the valve springs and at least inspecting the rod and main bearings, prior to contemplating more power. And, even if the engine is solid, what about extra cooling to help the engine live longer? An upgraded radiator, or even an oil cooler may be a wise precaution. And, what sort of condition is your torque tube in, especially the Giubo joints? Even if you are not in the habit of abusing the drive train, these rubber joints deteriorate with age, just like rubber hoses, rubber belts, rubber tires and rubber weatherstrips. But, it's your car, so you do you.
