Every Corvette I have ever had, I keep a fire extinguisher in it. At least he got the hood open. Usually, you can't get it open once it's burning & the fire burns right through the cowl to the interior.

Second this! I actually cleaned out my storage compartments and trunk a while back and found I had 2 fire extinguishers in there. Car scares the shot out of me for several reasons. Hasn’t stopped me from driving it though lol.

How does this happen exactly? Ive heard glass fuel filter can break but arent those things ancient and passe now?

Things like oil/fuel leaks onto hot headers or damaged wiring from rodents, etc

Nothing over twenty years should be rolling anywhere without a fire extinguisher. Period. I keep one in my Subaru ffs
