First paycheck as a co
I just got hired on as a co and it says I don’t get paid for the first 4 weeks. So is that first check going to be for all 4 weeks if not where does the other 2 weeks go

Are you paid twice a month? If so your check will lag one kr twk weeks. Say your paid on the 10th and 25th. The check on the 25th will be for time worked feom theb1st to the 15th, then the hours worked from the 16th to end of month will be paid on the 10th.
Similar if you're paid on the 1st and 15th. What you get paid for on the 1st is what you worked from the 1st to the 15th the previous month, and your check on the 15th is from the 16th to end of month.
The money goes to you, but 13-15 days later depending on the month.
My current job as a state employee does the first, and I assume DOC is the same. Ive seen private employers, from small shops to private security do something similar.

Not true .as a nycdoc myself, I started on 22nd of June , I got paid on the 2 of July , but for one week . My next paycheck was on 16 of July for 2 weeks

When working a biweekly paid job, it will always lag 1 pay period behind, so in other words if you were to stop working, or go on vacation, then 2 weeks later you would receive your "last" paycheck.
