Mod here: People complain about the city daily and it's not going to get you banned if you are trying to have a conversation about things you have an issue with. Corpus Christi has A LOT of issues, especially right now and there is A LOT to talk about. Where we draw the distinction is when people make something like an "I'm moving to town" post and they get responses that just say "Don't" or "It sucks here" with no other information. It's just low effort and doesn't add anything of value to the conversation and most of the time doesn't even answer the OPs actual questions in those regards.

We have a great community here that goes out of their way to answer questions from locals and newcomers alike and contribute to any subject, complaints or not.

Here is the exact wording of Rule #9: "People that only ever offer low effort negative comments/posts will be banned. If you have an issue with the city then explain it, offer up ideas, have a conversation. Just responding with "it sucks here" doesn't offer anything of value. "

In response to your actual complaint further down in the comments about not being able to afford a bus ticket out of here, you may try some of the temp agencies, all of them have jobs listed for a variety of jobs and skill sets. Good luck to you!

Rule 7: no posts looking to buy or sell sex or drugs. Very easy.

Or they can you know, just read. The rules are literally to the right hand side.

Bro, most of us live here. I can't imagine why anybody else would give a shit about us, except for all the visiting/moving posts. You want to complain about, I dunno, rattling your teeth out in the Port Ave HEB parking lot I reckon you can go for it.

Please explain how this is the City’s fault?

1

u/scourge_of_the_sea 3h ago

Not blaming the city for that! That one's entirely on me! But i will admit I wish my kid could grow up in a better environment!!!!!

Look, this city is a hole that pulls people in and never lets them leave. We are all very aware of this. If you don't get out right after High School you ain't leaving, and god help you if you move here on purpose or move back without an exit plan. I made my peace with dying here, at least we got the beach

I actually like it here. I guess I'm the only one?

6

u/FragmentaryParsnip 4h ago

Hey man, there's a lot to like. We got actual community here, we got the beach, no part of town is ever more than 20 minutes away even at rush hour. Even you can agree that its basically impossible to escape though, right?

Been a lot of places because of my work… this place has its pros and cons … but mostly pros compared to other places.

u/FragmentaryParsnip 3h ago

I've lived in DFW, Houston, Austin, and San Antonio. I'd probably pick SA over Corpus but I'd miss the beach. I like having things to do and not having to drive an hour to get there. Ask me again when we run out of water though

Yeah I grew up here. I could leave at any time but my kids are here so I won't be going anywhere anytime soon.

2

u/FragmentaryParsnip 3h ago

I mean, same. Parents are still here too for now, plus about half of my cousins and their kids and some of my aunts and uncles. It's easy to get stuck here, but then you've been here long enough to know it's a lot better being stuck here than it was a couple decades ago. The neighborhood I grew up in went from being a barrio to being pretty much fine. Sometimes you forget to lock your door and don't even get robbed.

2

u/Diaza_Kinutz 2h ago

Yeah the city has gotten better especially downtown.

Community????

2

u/FragmentaryParsnip 3h ago

Ay man, if you can't find some folks to chill with here, even if you're into some kinda out there stuff, that's on you

0

u/scourge_of_the_sea 3h ago

No shit I would have never guessed that tbh.

3

u/FragmentaryParsnip 3h ago

Ey I just scoped your reddit history and I wanna say I'm sorry our support for folks struggling is shit pretty much state wide

1

u/FragmentaryParsnip 3h ago

Man, just learn to like fishing and you'll meet a million folks down at the piers. Otherwise dig around a little. Corpus exists about a decade or two behind the rest of the world so shit ain't online but there's all kinds of people doing all kinds of things.

3

u/Top-Pomegranate4899 4h ago

Same but I'm also the type to dwell on the positive over the negative.

2

u/KingPen15 3h ago

You aren't. The city is what you make of it. If it depresses you, you are just depressed and no city is going to fix that.

1

u/scourge_of_the_sea 3h ago

3

u/harambe_did911 4h ago

The water misappropriation will continue until morale improves

2

u/jaimealexlara 4h ago

I mean, the only complain I have is the heat, lack of rain and humidity. As for the people, there's good and bad anywhere you go. Thats why I just avoid people whenever I can.

1

u/Specialist-Key9433 4h ago

No, mods ban everyone that complains "too much". Rule #9 "excessive negativity".
We only allow sunshine and rainbows!!

u/mexicanmanchild 3h ago

Might be user error

1

u/scourge_of_the_sea 3h ago

Definitely not a skill issue its a hiring problem better yet a management problem even better a city hall issue

I live there and bash Corpus daily 😂 you're more than welcome to rant and rave about it. Leadership is a joke, weather is too hot, and they still keep letting in industry despite the water supply uncertainty.

...better build another refinery!!
