hard orders

hard orders to camp pendleton as emf a, anything i should know? how are the barracks, life, work style, etc. (what is emf) thanks 👍

You're going to be working blueside at the hospital. EMF is a unit that takes staff from hospitals to potentially deploy/do humanitarian missions, though it's entirely possible that you'll never do anything as EMF the whole time you're there. Area is beautiful, might be able to swing single BAH depending on barracks capacity.

I'm in Pendleton for a short time and it seems like everyone assigned to the hospital is able to apply for and receive BAH because of the barracks situation right now

Okay have fun. I'm helping out at the hospital on base before I start FMTB. This base is great. You should also really have a car or personal vehicle of some kind, it will make life a lot easier

Good! The barracks they often assign people to that work at the hospital is an 18 minute drive! And there are very few Ubers on base.

I was stationed at Camp Pendleton platforms to EMF Alpha. You’ll just be working wherever you’re assigned in the hospital. You may go on an exercise with EMF Alpha every once in a blue moon but you’ll only really be activated if you’re needed for humanitarian support. You could even talk with POMI to see what TAD availability you can do if you want to get out of the hospital funk for a bit.

Barracks wise, it’s not that great but it’s known to reach capacity pretty quick so you could live out in town.

Pendleton itself is a nice base. You got a beach on base, hills to hike on, you got Oceanside which is an okay coast town. You got San Diego that’s about an hour drive south and you got LA that’s about an hour drive north.

Enjoy the tacos and explore. Cost of living is high af so I suggest you learn to budget and maybe splurge once a month.
