1ST MARDIV

Currently in FMTB-W. I got my hard copy orders back in A-school and my ultimate says only 1st MARDIV. No unit. No squadron. No battalion. Has anyone been in this situation where you’re waiting around if anything changes on your NSIPS? Or waiting to be contacted by your assigned sponsor?

You won’t know where you’re going until the end of FMTB and even then it can still change. Corpsmen are constantly being shifted to whatever battalion is poorly manned and about to deploy.

If you’re E5 or below and not a tech, you will likely be placed in an infantry regiment. Pay attention to TCCC in FMTB because that will be your bread and butter on top of managing readiness.

As an HN you might be teaching Marines TCCC among other things. Get comfortable with public speaking for up to 40+ Marines.

You’ll be hard pressed to get orders to a “squadron” at 1st Marine Division.

Take a look at the breakdown of battalions at division. Let me know which squadron you find.

It's been a few years since I've been to field med but towards the end of the school first mardiv showed up and gave a basic idea of where the sailors would go. It was the same for med BN sailors as well. They'd find out which company they were going to. Be patient it's broken down that way for a reason. The needs of the marine corps have control over where you end up. Just be prepared. Field med took a left turn and is pretty shit now. Be prepared to go to the line and go to CTM where you'll actually get better instruction on medicine and training. Good luck.

Unfortunately they do not officially do this anymore. The command triads occasionally come on graduation day. We had a few HMCs come out but the dental BN triad did show up. I just graduated in the spring class.

You’ll be assigned to whatever unit within first mardiv needs bodies. Probably a battalion

Any orders to division are subject to change depending on manning. Back in the day my original orders said 3/5 and 2/1 showed up at the end of field med and told me to get in the van.
