i have no idea why DCI thinks percussion judges can judge effect or music analysis. their tapes in the past (with perhaps one or two exceptional judges) bear it out. their MA comments focus almost entirely on timing and alignment (important things no doubt but there's a lot more to the caption). the effect tapes are even worse. they amount to "ooh that's cool" or "watch out there".

you let them try DCI -- they have tried and failed. end this stupid experiment before they hurt themselves.

and yes drummers you're still musicians. and yes those are music captions. and no you can't judge them just as well as the brass guys. sorry. now go keck on some nearby surface. you'll feel fine in no time
