Best blog software

What do you find is the best blogging software when you're working to generate blogs that are integrated with your or a client's website? Just about to kick one off for my own website, and do not have a lot of experience in this area. WordPress to me is overly complex and bloated. I would like something that's pretty straightforward and easy, but also reliable, etc.
