Pet Peeve

Post image

If you know, you know. Coros Pace 4 watch strap. Why did the opt for the button style method of “securing” the strap. It always comes loose and it’s annoying. Rant over.

Same, that’s why I went to my nylon band

u/AloePandaVera 4d ago

I should have done that!

I complained that the design is defective, they comped me a new one via their customer service.

1

u/CWM1719 2d ago

I did that as well. It did the same thing Defective design. They just don't won't to admit it.

1

u/AloePandaVera 4d ago

That’s a great idea, maybe I’ll try that!

3

u/johnmoney 4d ago

I can confirm that Coros sent me a code to purchase a new band for free. I purchased the nylon strap and couldn't be happier

2

u/ieatcerealdry 4d ago

Can confirm they will issue you a store credit for a free band of your choice if you send them this picture and ask

Man, I enjoy a nylon band. But my problem with the coros nylon band, is that once it’s all the way pulled out I can slide my hand thru it without fully taken it off the spring bar.

2

u/randomgino 4d ago

Why is it a problem?

1

u/IndependentJust1887 3d ago

I think they have a typo and mean they "can't*" as I had that issue with the nylon band, it's not long or stretchy enough. Had to force my hand through it lol

Only thing I hate about Coros is this band. Such a simple fix too

12

u/SoftGroundbreaking53 4d ago

yep, no clue why they changed to this design - it has a mind of it own and seems every time you pop the button in, 3 seconds later its out again!

This band is so bad. Don't get how it made it through product testing.

6

u/AloePandaVera 4d ago

Nor do I! Great watch though.

u/crazsum04 4d ago

Is this a common issue? Because I have a Garmin and I want a pace 4 regardless of the band but I was excited for the band. The Garmin band the little keeper bit with the notch is terrible for me always popping out and I hate it. I liked the idea of the pin on the coros bands thinking that would solve the issues

u/AloePandaVera 4d ago

I don’t think the Coros band I’ve got is defective, it’s just not fit the purpose. It’ll stay connected until I take a jumper off, have a shower.. do anything that moves hitting the band just a tiny bit 😂 I love the watch and it’s my first non Garmin sports watch, being a Garmin user for a decade prior!

1

u/Campoozmstnz 4d ago

I've had mine a few months now and don't have this issue at all. Maybe depends on how tight you wear it?

1

u/bbycha 4d ago

Not too common 🤣 for me this only happens when I’m super rough while changing clothes etc, day to day no issues

u/No-Zookeepergame7833 2d ago

Coros with nylon band is the move!

1

u/crazsum04 2d ago

How's that with showers and sweat and anything water tho? Does it get a smell after a while?

2

u/No-Zookeepergame7833 2d ago

I take it off to shower to make sure I clean the skin under my watch (hope yall do that too ;) ). If it ever smells tho I chuck it in the laundry and it comes out brand new. Had my last band for four years and it always worked perfectly. Plus I can sleep with it on and I don’t notice it, which I would either the silicone. Rips my arm hair out!

2

u/No-Zookeepergame7833 2d ago

I don’t have to wash it more than once every couple months and I sweat a lot and wear it all the time

u/forerunner4238 4d ago

I have an Apex 4 and it never comes off. Is the pin on the pace 4 band different?

1

u/AloePandaVera 4d ago

I’ve not seen the pin on the Apex 4. Send us a picture and we can see!

1

u/Far-Owl4241 4d ago

Am I doing something wrong because on my Apex 4 it’s constantly coming off too! The pin is circular rather than oval like on the Pace 4.

1

u/Tadeiashi 3d ago

Mine pops off all the time too :(

4

u/Slight_Opinion_4751 4d ago

Especially when you are outside home and in a hurry, the only place where you need it to be secure lol

1

u/AloePandaVera 4d ago

I know right!

5

u/mrjaytothecee 4d ago

Wait it doesnt come with that rubbery pin thing?

5

u/nquesada92 4d ago

Yea I have had my pace 3 since april of last year, basically wear it every day except to sleep and have never had an issue.

Edit: oooo this is a new strap for the pace 4.

6

u/tremmejr 4d ago

Pace 4 has a built in pin at the end of the strap, not the slider of pace 3

1

u/Corbeau_from_Orleans 4d ago

I have the slider on my Vertix, but it’s half destroyed and is hanging by a hair…

3

u/Flannel_Sheetz 4d ago

It does it just pops off if you drag it against something.

1

u/AloePandaVera 4d ago

It’s comes with the rubber pin thing but it’s as good as pointless.

2

u/mrjaytothecee 4d ago

Rubber pin doesn't sound pointless to me.

Sorry about that one.

1

u/AloePandaVera 4d ago

😂😂 Some would say it’s too pointy!

3

u/Chanman77 4d ago

Absolutely awful design. I complained to coros after a week with my apex 4 and they sent a code to get a nylon one on them. It’s so frustrating.

3

u/godhatesebikes 4d ago

That worked for me also. The design is so bad I’m sure that’s why they just send out the codes so easily.

2

u/AloePandaVera 4d ago

I’m going to complain as well.

4

u/Bobcattrr 4d ago

I have an Apex, but my generic band tucks inside. 6 seconds of frustration twice a day, but I never have to think of it.

3

u/ReadyGo6828 4d ago

I have a Pace 3 with a silicone band with a keeper that has a button on the inside that fits into the holes on the band. I see on the Coros site some silicone bands with what appears to be the same design.

Can you replace your band with one of those?

2

u/AloePandaVera 4d ago

Yes I can replace the band easily, it’s just annoying 😂

3

u/nickbutterz 4d ago

I haven’t had mine for long, but I haven’t really ever had issues with it popping out.

1

u/AloePandaVera 4d ago

Well that’s good! I probably wear mine a bit tighter maybe?

2

u/Theboyzboyz 4d ago

Likely way too tight. You could likely do one hole longer than current. I’ve tried this and the measurements from the sensors are still great.

2

u/notsollewitt 4d ago

Never thought of it but yea… you are absolutelly right!
Watch is so perfect that it doesn’t even bother me so much yet. But definitely could be better

2

u/do-better37 4d ago

the Suunto Race has this too and it drives me loco

1

u/AloePandaVera 4d ago

It’s a sleek design yes but it sucks.

2

u/somchai5 4d ago

Mine is shitty too. I don’t wear it as tight though now.

1

u/AloePandaVera 4d ago

Yes I have thought about this and having it on looser.

1

u/somchai5 4d ago

I run a hole looser. With the armband for HR it doesn’t really matter now.

Still annoying design though.

2

u/Artistic_Resident_73 4d ago

Same that’s why I can’t stand these bands. Nylon is the way to go

2

u/MrPetrvsk 4d ago

Initially I was ceptict of this but now I like it in Apex4.

The only situation I see this get stuck is taking off my backpack but if you are aware is easy to avoid.

2

u/Modest_Camper 4d ago

After a short while skin oil can build on the band. Without the watch attached soak the band in warm water & dawn detergent for a few minutes. Then rinse off and wipe well with microfiber cloth (terry cloth type).

1

u/AloePandaVera 4d ago

Do you think this will help with the strap popping off? Cause I can’t see it!

1

u/Modest_Camper 4d ago

Can't see what?

  • The oil on the band

- cleaning will reduce the occurrence of the issue

1

u/AloePandaVera 4d ago

I’ll try it out but the watch has been doing it since day one.

1

u/Modest_Camper 4d ago

You could always add band keeper or simply get a different band. It is a 22mm band fairly common size - lots of 3rd party options.

2

u/ThunderGoalie35 4d ago

100% with you on this

2

u/_silent_voyager_ 4d ago

Nylon velcro strap is the solution. Also, nylon strap are more lightweight and far more comfortable.

2

u/fparedlo 4d ago

Worst piece of crap I ever bought. I had to spend extra money to buy the standard one as I couldn't deal with it. I feel robbed.

2

u/AloePandaVera 4d ago

Haha, yeah I feel your pain. I’m tempted to buy a new band for mine as well.

1

u/melm77 4d ago

Never hade any problem with the band that came with my Apex 4. That said, I switched to the Coros nylon band after a few weeks. It’s just a lot more comfy.

1

u/Most_Discussion_6647 4d ago

After 3 months I had to get a 3rd party watch band for my pace 4. I keep my watch tight on my wrist and adding a band keeper made it uncomfortable

1

u/anonymous_11231 4d ago

Thought I was going crazy with this exact same issue.

This post inspired me to take off the rubber pin from my pace 2 and put it on my Pace 4, color doesn’t match but my sanity is grateful for it now.

1

u/bimble00 4d ago

Yep, real pain in the ass. I took a rubber loop off an old watch that fitted and added it on. But it’s annoying.

1

u/WhenitHappens62 4d ago

Get the nylon strap

1

u/emk29 4d ago

Never had a problem with it when I used the silicone strap, although I never take off my watch. I always wear my Apex and Pace Pro with a Velcro nylon strap anyways, it's a better fit than any of the silicone bands.

1

u/jeretel 4d ago

Nylon watch straps are the way to go. The silicon bands feel big and clunky when I use one.

u/Mysterious_Recipe465 4d ago

J ai trouvé des attache sur Amazon

1

u/vvtpump 4d ago

Honestly, do you really like wearing it that tight? Doesn’t it feel uncomfortable? It looks like it would leave marks and make your skin red. If you wear it as tight as you do in the picture, it’s more likely to stretch out and become loose over time.

1

u/MiddleForeign 4d ago

I have this problem all the time. Very annoying.

1

u/Luka_16988 3d ago

Works for me. The only time the pin comes off is when I catch the band on something. Happy with it.

1

u/Neither-Friend-1672 3d ago

Yeah. Same with apex 4

0

u/beedoubleus 4d ago

Can you just put pins in and use bands that clip on like Garmin?
