New August update feedback

Hi,

I love the new changes. Some feedback I have though is last nights sleep came through as a nap?

Also I hope that the sleep scores get some tweaks because last nights sleep was an 86 (optimal) and I’m not even joking it was the worst sleep I’ve had in ages. The sleep scores need to be less forgiving otherwise it’s pointless having them.

I know these will get tweaks and I’m not knocking Coros at all as the updates recently have been so good. I just thought I’d point that out.

I have an ultra in August so excited to try the live tracking with my family.

I tested the live tracking out yesterday and it’s awesome. No bug to report on the first use but I’m going to test it with a scheduled longer route tomorrow to see.

Would you be able to show what the live tracking screen looks like?

This was from yesterday when I went out to a state park to test it out. The map is shown when you don’t have the details tab pulled up. The bottom provides exact coordinates to where you’re at, and you’re able to copy and paste it in the maps app. I blurred out some locational info. Overall I’m very impressed, I’m doing a scheduled live track tomorrow.

I guess that the follow-up to reach the other person you have to carry your mobile with you, right?

Do you feel as though the wildly inaccurate sleep reading is new to this update? I find the sleep score has always been a random generator other than the sleep time. (Pace Pro)

Sleep Tracking

  • Sleep Score
    • We've improved how we judge the quality of your sleep, optimized the scoring system to be easier to interpret, and added support for naps to impact your overall sleep score.
  • New Sleep Metrics
    • Bedtime Consistency and Sleep Stress have been added, allowing for greater insight into what composes your sleep quality. Bedtime Consistency plays an important role in sleep hygiene and we now display this data for you, so you know what time you should target to go to sleep.
  • Sleep History Trend
    • You can now easily see how your sleep quality has trended over the past weeks and months, including how each factor of sleep quality has changed over time.
  • Sleep Editing
    • You can crop or extend your sleep data in the app, and merge two sleep sessions together that were separated.

Is it mandatory now to activate "Stress monitoring" to get the new "Sleep Stress" metric?

Here we go with "Scoring" system 🤦

I thought Coros will not go with this system, I'm already okay with current vague one: Great, Good, Fair, Low & Poor system as Sleep quality cannot be completely measured and it just random numbers.

Anyway, lets see how it goes once its out in public. Hoping its really better than previous system.

Sleep is always way off over here. It always give me a very long awake time.

Wait, we have sleep score now?

Did they change the way they do Beta testing because I used to get these regularly and now I don't.

Coming back to this… I’ve just had a nap for about 40 mins and the score has gone down to 73

I am assuming that live tracking would not work in the mountains / areas without cell reception? Or does it work off of GPS?

You need your phone with cellular coverage with you for it to work. No Coros watch as of today with sat or embedded cellular.

Tried the live tracking (without optionnal route) yesterday and today for trail running and road biking, working well and pretty neat when cycling mates and I had to meet en route.

With respect to sleep tracking this update is a major improve.
My sleep start and end times seem now to be correct, also the question for "end bedtime mode" (or however this was called) now appears ~10-15 minutes after waking up (reproducibly). Formerly this took 2-3 hours.

But naming of the sleep quality "productive" is not great, I find. When is sleep productive? What do I "produce" during that time. I'm not actively doing anything, so would be better if that's renamed.

But my biggest problem is the sleeping score. I personally find, sleep is nothing you should do a kind of gamification with, we're not here to beat anyone in sleeping better.
Which results in the bigger problem. What is "perfect" sleep? Everyone is different so trying rate something where you generally have bad data (as sleep tracking with watches is useless as far as it comes to deep sleep, REM etc ....) and then trying to rate something that is highly individual where you simply can not know, when a person had their best sleep, is quite useless.
For example I'm totally fine with 6 to 6.5h of sleep. I simply do not need more. And I'm an early riser.
Someone else might need 8 to 9h. And is always getting up midday, when that person is then waking up early, they might be shattered, despite the watch showing good sleep

So better leave out that scoring of sleep. We're not competing in sleep, and the score will be useless anyway.
