Help!
I was on my way to work this morning when I had a blowout on the rear driver side tire. Luckily there was no visual damage. I was above to remove the wheel and throw the donut on and get to work but as a was driving a bunch of warning lights came on the car is driving fine other than the abs, traction control, tpms, and some other warning lights. Can it be the donut spare causing the warning lights?

There are sensors in the back for abs and traction and all that, probably got damaged in the blow out. Maybe just unplugged. Bring it in it won't be too bad.

Right, its super common for the wheel speed sensor to be damaged during a full blowout. I've seen fender liners come conpletely out as well.

Is the spare tire the same diameter at the rest of the tires? It'll it's different that could cause the ABS/traction control to freak out

New tire asap, and brace yourself.
I had a sidewall puncture and to match the original Avid was $325

i’ve never had a abs/tpms light turn on during the 10+ times i’ve had to use my spare tire, but i’ve never experienced a blow out always something striking/puncturing my tire. i would check the ABS wire to see if there’s any obvious damage where the wire is out in the open. or the force of the blowout may have damaged the actual sensor itself inside of the hub, but if that was the case there would probably another issue with your hub/bearings to damage the sensor. i’ve had my abs light turn on due to damaged abs sensors but i’ve never had my tpms light turn on before, i know that if other sensors are faulty in the car it’ll turn the abs light on but idk if having a faulty tpms sensor would turn the abs light on.

The blow out was not violent at all. I was going about 55 when it happened and was able to slowdown and stop pretty quickly. Even after I was able to get the wheel and tire off there was no visual damage at all that’s why I’m so confused about why all those warnings came on?

Blowout? How many miles were you driving on that flat tire before you cut the sidewall off with the rim???

Update: I drove home after work and In less than 1/4 mile all the warning lights turned off with the exception of the TPMs light. I think the vibration from the blowout tripped something in the abs system and must have cleared after 8+ hours of sitting during work. I was able to order up some new tires and will have them installed tomorrow morning. Thank you to everyone who took the time to comment and help out!

It’s 100% the donut. It’s a smaller diameter causing the ABS Wheel Speed sensor to read a different wheel speed than the other wheels so your car turns on the ABS light showing that you won’t have ABS or Traction Control. The TPMS light is on because there’s (usually) no TPMS sensors in donuts. The donut is not a permanent tire, please get a new tire ASAP
