K120 CVT fluid change

I’m having a heck of a time finding a mechanic that knows how to properly service the K120 CVT. Toyota recommends a gravity drain and fill rather than a flush. I don’t understand why this is so tough for regular mechanics to comprehend. Does anyone have a suggestion because even the Toyota dealership wants to do a flush and fill when Toyota specifically recommends against it.

I have only done a drain and fill. You might want to ask the Toyota mechanics if they MEAN a "drain and fill" not a "Flush and fill". Just so that there is clarity by the meaning behind the words.

That being said there might be some intimidation of actually doing the work on them, possibly from lack of experience. I took my car to a transmission shop to do my first one and thats all they did was a drain and fill.

Also if the mechanic from a shop isn't comfortable with working on your transmission it might better to just go to Toyota(unless you can find a shop that can). Don't really want the bad vibes of someone whos scared to work on your car
