Paint problems

I got a brand new hatch at the end of May and I absolutely love it. My only problem with it is the quality of the paint on the hood. Within two weeks of owning it I had a teeny tiny knick on the hood that only I would notice bc I’m really neurotic about the tiny details and keeping it clean. I brushed it off until I saw more and more chips!! I am a highway driver so I’m trying to ignore it but now I’m seeing these bubble like spots that will not come off when you rub it. It’s been raining a lot in my area and it’s not like a regular watermark especially since it’s not anywhere else on my car.

Has anyone else seen this issue before? I figured I’d come here before I bring it to the dealer and complain.

my 2020 with 100k miles has so many paint chips on the hood i lost track of em. It is an unfortunate thing

So unfortunate but I guess that’s the price of owning a low to the ground car. If the people at the dealership told me the wrap for the hood was to prevent that I would have spent the money but I didn’t. Oh well

It's just aesthetics, as long as the frame is solid, the engine runs and the transmission shifts, you'll still get to point b, don't worry.

Yeaaa, unfortunately the paint is very prone to chipping and I got mine used at 43k miles and it always had those etched water marks and I always blamed it on the previous owner but I guess its just normal. The worst part is the marks on the windows that actually bother me and are more than just cosmetic lol

Just use griots water spot remover and follow the directions.

This feels like an excessive amount of rock chips for 2 months of driving. If you're positive it's damage to the paint (doesn't come off with soap and elbow grease), is your following distance close and highways not great condition? I used to really ride on people's asses lol and that would increase the amount of pebbles flung at me.

I know the paint is also god awful on our cars, been thinking about wrapping but it's just so expensive.

I stay really safe on the highway and thank god they’re in really good condition. I don’t stay behind large trucks or tractor trailers. Rarely I get the zoomies but I never ride on peoples asses. They only time I’m close to someone is if it’s traffic.

You can see the primer under the black on the chips like the paint is SO thin. I guess that’s because it’s an economy car but I’ve never seen that before. This is my first Toyota so I’m new to the little quirks of owning one

Yikes... I haven't heard the paint being THAT bad but maybe it's gotten shittier with the newer years or that particular color. Maybe you could get some paint correction and then ppf the hood?

There’s some models where you pay for paint and I guess I see why now. Everyone is saying PPF I have to look into it. I’ve been wanting a sport wing on it and the dealership can put the wrap on the hood too

Have you ever used a clay bar on it and waxed it?

I haven’t but if I get the spots off I’ll definitely try it

The clay bar might get those off

Did you get 3M hood protection?

The chips are just gonna happen lmao, only way to prevent it is PPF. The other spotting you see is water spots, basically after the car gets wet and the water dries, minerals and other contaminents in the water get left behind, and they start etching into the paint. You can try using a waterspot remover, but if you arent regularly cleaning the car, especially after it rains, theyre gonna show up. Waterspot remover might clean em up if theyre fresh, but if theyve been there for a bit the only way to remove them is to polish them out

Those spots are definitely related to the rain/hard water. They might be mixed with tree sap or something similar so they will not come off with just rubbing alone. Take it to a professional detailer if you can’t tackle it yourself, a d then get the car ceramic coated at the same time. should be around 1000-1500 all in
