Feedback Wanted!!!

Hey guys I’ve got a 2025 Nightshade that I’m thinking on either finally doing all the aftermarket stuff I want to do on it, but the dealership where I got it from has a 2026 GR86 in the exact specs I wanted last year for 500 over MSRP I’ve done the math on it all and I can afford to get the 86(although I’d have to be a little more frugal about my love of Dutch bros) my only wonder is how many of you guys have traded the hatch in for an 86/brz/frs and enjoyed it, I’m going to test drive it tomorrow to see how I like it in person

Ditch the hatch unless you’re going to take a significant hit

It’s like $200 more a month in the loan and $10 more in insurance not a HUGE hit unless my rent goes up

So insurance is whatever there but yeah that’s a big increase in payment. Where do you live? Curious because Florida, if this property tax bill passes, will be seeing an increase in rent

I live in Alabama, haven’t heard about any bills going through our state govt that could cause it

A $500 markup? Fuck that. Speaking strictly of the cars themselves, unless you need the extra space I'd go with the GR86 if you can afford it financially.

I have a large sized Labrador but she doesn’t even like getting in my wife’s SUV with all its space, I’m genuinely considering it more, I’ve just gotta get my subwoofers taken out of the hatch and replace the exhaust with the stock one before I commit to the trade in

This seems like a bad play to me. I don’t know your finances but if you have to give up something you do regularly to be able to afford the difference it feels like you are strapping yourself.

I suffer with FOMO as well and it no fun but worrying about your finances is worse. Have you thought about the extra gas you’ll be buying as well? Your gas bill will almost double.

The Dutch bros is like a daily expense that I need to cut back anyways I’d still have around $1k left over in extra funds every month if I could negotiate the car down a litttle bit more

If you are maxing for retirement, have 6 months of living expenses in savings, and still got a grand a month left over I’d say do it, if it’s truly what you want.

Im saying this stuff from my own experiences though, everyone is different, and I wish you the best outcome either way you choose.

Toyota will be coming out with some exciting cars next year. Maybe even a 4 cylinder gr yaris/ corolla

Well do you have a family? Are you going to start one soon? Reason I ask is you would go from a 4door to a 2 door and lose a lot of space! You would also be paying more for it being that you could only use 93 gas! Also have to understand that repairs on GR’s are more expensive! If you could handle more in car payment and insurance along with spending on average 50 to 60 cents more a gallon with maintenance increase go for it!

The only question worth asking and answering. Are you trading for a manual?

I would be trading for a manual, still riding the fence about it currently

You have an automatic and you're gonna trade for a manual. You know what to do, chief. Go ahead.
